BELLEVILLE, IL; Exciting midget and winged 600 c.c. micro sprint auto racing returns to the Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL on Sunday June 13th.

The midgets, sanctioned by the Midwest Auto Racing Association (M.A.R.A.) will compete in the first of four events scheduled this summer at the popular fifth mile bullring located just across the Mississippi River east of St. Louis. Belle-Clair's tight confines and high banked turns make it a perfect track to see midgets and micros in action. Simply put...racing at Belle-Clair is just plain Wild!

Last years midget/micro doubleheaders produced some of the best open wheel racing in the St. Louis area in years. Winged sprint car sensation Joey Montgomery, M.A.R.A champion Steve Knepper, and U.S.A.C. standout Chris "Critter" Malone each claimed victories in last years highly competitive midget races.
The winged 600 c.c. micro sprints provided plenty of action as well producing four different winners at Belle-Clair during the 2003 season. N.M .M.A. father and son standouts Dereck and Rick King, along with Derek O'Dell , and Indiana's Ryan Langston shared feature victories at Belle-Clair.
Special thanks go out to Stallard Chassis and Keizer Aluminum Wheels who are sponsoring the micros at Belle-Clair by posting awards to drivers in each night of competition. More contigency sponsors are in the works.

The midget events at Belle-Clair award points toward the crowning of the Gateway Open Wheel Racing Series Champion. Two time regional series champion, Donnie Lehman will be back on June 13th to defend his title once again. 2003 M.A.R.A. Steve Knepper returns to defend his title as well.
Hoosier Tire Midwest is a contributing sponsor to the Gateway Open Wheel Racing Series.
