BATESVILLE AR. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series will be on the road again this weekend with three more critical points events. The series will sanction the 25th Annual Summertime Classic, which began at the Tri-State Speedway, and over the years has evolved into a three night swing the first weekend in August.

The action will kick off, Friday August 1 at the Outlaw Motor Speedway just south of Muskogee, Oklahoma. On Saturday August 2, the series will move to the Tri-State Speedway just outside of Ft. Smith, Arkansas in Pocola, Oklahoma. The weekend's finale will be Sunday, August 3 at the Monett Speedway in Missouri.

Bill Frye of Greenbriar, Arkansas edged into the point lead over the past weekend. He and Terry Phillips of Springfield, Missouri are engaged in a nail-bitter points race that is way to close to call at this point in the season. Phillips won his 8th feature of the year Friday at the Batesville Speedway, but Frye was on his heels in the second spot. The pair headed to the I-30 Speedway in Little Rock for a pair of features. Frye got the better of things in the first race, and Phillips headed Frye the second go-round, but Frye left the Arkansas State capitol with a four point lead.

Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and Jeff Taylor of Batesville, Arkansas are in their own point battle for the third place in the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. standings. Taylor gained ground on Floyd over the weekend, picking up allot of points in the first two feature events. Floyd regained some of his lost advantage in the finale at Little Rock on Saturday, and left with a twelve point bulge on Taylor.

Leslie Essary of Crane, Missouri sits in the fifth spot in the points after having a good weekend. Essary picked up a top five finish in the first event at I-30, and had top tens at Batesville, and the second race at I-30.

Mike Brown of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma and Jerry Buck of Harviell, Missouri are embroiled in their own point battle for sixth place. Only 24 point seperate that pair. Brown put a bit of breathing room betweem himself and Buck as he scored a pair of top fives over the weekend, and added a top ten to his talley. Buck came home with a pair of top tens, still a good weekend, but lost a bit of ground to Brown in the process.

Mike Bowers of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Dewaine Hottinger of Russellville, Arkansas and Charlie Randolph of Muskogee, Oklahoma are in a three way fight for eighth spot in the standings. only 32 points seperates the threesome. Bowers notched a top ten at Batesville, but had a rough night at I-30. A spectacular flip took him out of the first feature. Bowers finished just outside the top ten in the second event. Hottinger helped himself with a pair of top tens. Randolph is the leader of the Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year standings, and picked up a top five at I-30.

Steve Rushin of Poplar Bluff, Missouri sits just outside the top ten. He had his best run of the year Saturday at I-30 when he finished second behind Peyton Taylor. Joey Mack of Benton, Missouri is 12th in points and picked up a top ten over the weekend.

Jack Sullivan of Greenbriar, Arkansas is 13th in series points, and second in the Kuntz and Company rookie race.
