BATESVILLE AR. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Mid-America Racing Series is right back on the road again this weekend. Two regularly scheduled events, plus one made-up for a rained out race is on the agenda, and the series points race just cannot get any tighter.

First up is a Friday August 8 return trip to the Tulsa Speedway for the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. cars. Bill Frye won the first time at the track in June, and is hungry for another win at Oil Capital Oval. On Saturday, August 9, the O'Reilly M.A.R.S. cars will make their first ever stop at the Wheatland (Missouri), Raceway. A rainout in May prevented the series from it's first outting at Wheatland. Finally, the rained out finale to the 25th Annual Summertime Classic is on tap for Sunday August 10 at the Monett Speedway.

The points battle between Terry Phillips of Springfield, Missouri and Bill Frye of Greenbriar, Arkansas has been in "dead heat" status for the past several weeks. Frye had edged into the point lead after season finale at I-30 Speedway. Terry Phillips took a pair of wins over this past weekend to nudge his way back into the lead by a mear two points. Frye ran second at Outlaw Motor Speedway, and third at Tri-State to prevent Phillips from gaining any breathing room.

Jeff Taylor of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas and Jeff Floyd of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas have held their own see-saw battle for the third place in series points. Floyd had held the edge for the last couple of weekends, but Jeff Taylor moved back to the third place spot over the weekend. Taylor's top five and ten pushed him back ahead of Floyd, while Floyd was the first driver out at Outlaw. Floyd came back with a top ten at Tri-State, but the damage had been done.

Leslie Essary of Crane, Missouri sits in the fifth position in the points, picking up a pair of top tens over the past weekend. Mike Brown of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma is sixth in series points, also had a good weekend for himself with a pair of top ten finishes.

Jerry Buck of Harviell, Missouri is steady in the seventh spot in points, but had a weekend of what-if's. A second place run at Outlaw Motor Speedway was cut short by a flat tire, then another second place run at Tri-State ended with a hard crash into the frontstretch wall just two laps from the finish. Mike Bowers of North Little Rock, Arkansas runs eighth in series points and helped himself with a top five run at Outlaw Motor Speedway.

Dewaine Hottinger of Russellville, Arkansas is in nineth in points, but had a terrific weekend picking up top five finishes in both events. Charlie Randolph of Muskogee, Oklahoma is tenth in series points, and leads the Kuntz and Company Rookie of the Year title chase. Randolph notched a top ten at his home track, the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee on Friday.

Steve Rushin of Poplar Bluff, Missouri sits just outside the top ten in series points. Rushin has battled injuries this year, along with the ultra-tough competition the series has to offer. Rushin didn't crack the top ten over the weekend, but is still a factor. Joey Mack of Benton, Missouri resides in 12th in points. Mack was unable to crack the top ten either night as well.

Jack Sullivan of Greenbriar, Arkansas is 13th in overall points, and second in the Kuntz & Company Rookie Championship. Sullivan did notch a top ten over the weekend. Gary Stolba of Willow Springs, Missouri is 14th in points and Shane Essary of Aurora, Missouri is 15th, and rounds out the top three in Kuntz & Company Rookie points.
