MARS vs. UMP Late Models hit the 1/2 mile oval at Tri-City Speedway this Sunday!

Pontoon Beach, IL (August 23, 2006) The Mid-America Racing Series (MARS) takes on the United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) in a big super late model event this Sunday evening, August 27th at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL. The action will take place on the lightning fast 1/2 mile oval dirt track where speeds can reach near 110mph.

Some of the top drivers from both series will be on hand to battle it out for the $5,000 top prize including MARS drivers Bill Frye, Terry Phillips, Jeff Taylor, Steve Rushin and Billy James along with UMP drivers Shannon Babb, Dennis Erb Jr, Brian Shirley, Randy Korte, Michael Kloos and Frank Heckenast Jr.

Pit Gates Open at 3:00 and General Admission Gates at 4:30pm. Hot Laps at 5:30pm and Racing at 6:00pm (No Late Model Qualifying, this event will utilize the passing point system) . The late model division will feature a special tire rule for this event. The only two tires allowed will be the Hoosier WRS-55 or the Hoosier LM-40.

There will be special appearance and racing by NASCAR stars Kenny Schrader & Kenny Wallace.

Admission will be $18 for grandstand seating with kids 12 and under FREE. Pit admission will be $25 for Tri-City Speedway Members and $30 for non-members.

The other Tri-City Speedway divisions will be competing on the 1/4 mile track.
