Matt Miller qualified and completed the first two events in East Bay Raceway Park’s week of the Florida Speedweeks.

Though track conditions for Monday’s hot laps seemed greasy and slick, Matt finished third in the first of the night’s six heat races. He was running second in the closing laps of the heat race, but a caution enabled Billy Moyer to maneuver around the #7 forcing him into third place.

Matt started 18th in Monday night’s feature. His car was tight throughout Monday night’s Renegade Dirtcar series feature. Tension filled the air on the last lap as Matt, RJ Conley, and 3 others managed to run 5 wide to the finish on the 3/8-mile track. After the race, Matt claimed, “I feel more confident in the car this year than last. We’re going to try some things to hopefully improve our runs throughout the week.”

For the inaugural Xtreme Dirtcar Series race, Tuesday’s track seemed dry with little forward bite, but he felt comfortable during hot laps. Matt ran the 26th fastest time, which placed him in the fifth heat for the night. His fifth place finish in the heat race forced him to run the B-Main, where he started on the outside pole and finished second. Starting 22nd in the feature, Matt was able to run as high as 19th Tuesday night, but his car was too loose to go anywhere; he finished 24th.

Racing at East Bay continues thru Saturday, February 8. Speedweeks continue at Volusia County on Monday, and Matt Miller and DSI hope to take the #7 to Volusia and compete in UMP action.
