WAYNESFIELD, OH (6-26-07) - The 25th Annual UNOH Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by RacingJunk.com made its first ever stop at Waynesfield Motor Sports Park in Waynesfield, OH. The short 1/4 mile bullring proved to be a challenge as many cars ended up on the hook throughout the night, but it was Paul May who managed to avoid those problems and pocket $5,000 for the win.
May would idle around the track on restarts at a very slow pace until he saw the green flag wave and would then pull away from 2nd place runner Byron Reed. In Reed's frustration on the final restart of the 40 lapper, he was nose to tail with May into turn four giving him a little bit of front bumper to let May know he was there, then dove into turn one on the start attempting a slide job for the lead, but May never lifted and got into Reed sending him spinning down the track. Reed saved the car and barely lifted off the throttle, but slid all the way back to 9th place at the finish line. May exited the car in victory lane to the sound of boos from several Reed fans, but the elated A-main winner waved the checkered flag at the crowd and posed for pictures as the crowd continued to boo.
The heat races were won by Brock Mayes, Lance Dewease, Shane Stewart, and Brandon Martin. The B-main was won by Chad Blonde. Danny Smith and Greg Wilson did not transfer from the B-main, but by All Star rules Wilson was allowed to climb into another car that was already qualified for the A-main - that of his team mate Mike Brecht in the #m20 car. John Ivy and Bill Rose scratched after the B-main, which allowed 3rd alternate Danny Smith into the A-main as well.
