Lonnie Wheatley, BIXBY, Okla. (October 18, 2018) – Cannon McIntosh continues to turn heads as he gains invaluable experience in both the Sprint Car and Midget ranks.

After racing to a top-ten finish in POWRi Midget action last Saturday night at Belle-Claire Speedway, McIntosh and the RL Hudson/Toyota-TRD No. 08 Midget team venture back to Illinois this weekend for a trio of events beginning on Friday night.

The weekend begins with a pair of POWRi National events at Jacksonville Speedway on Friday and then Marion’s Southern Illinois Raceway on Saturday before rounding it out with Sunday’s USAC National Midget-sanctioned “Jason Leffler Memorial” at Wayne City’s Wayne County Speedway.

The 15-year-old made his first start at Jacksonville during POWRi Midget Week earlier this season while Southern Illinois Raceway and Wayne County Speedway will both be first-time venues.

After a Friday night rainout last weekend, McIntosh made the most of his first Midget outing in several weeks the following night by racing to a second-place finish in heat race action and then climbing from 13th to finish ninth in the feature event with more than 40 cars on hand at Belleville’s Belle-Claire Speedway.

“It has been a few weeks, it felt really good getting back in the Midget,” McIntosh said of the strong outing. “The car felt really good and was running well, we’re looking forward to all three races this weekend.”

Last weekend’s top-ten came on the heels of McIntosh’s first taste of Short Track Nationals Sprint Car action at Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway on October 5-6.

Rallying from deep in the field to finish eighth a month earlier at I-30 Speedway, McIntosh made his presence known once again amongst a field of more than 70 entries. Contending for a coveted spot in the STN championship finale, his weekend came to an abrupt end while dicing for a transfer position in Saturday night “B” Main action.

“It was another one of those learning experiences,” McIntosh said of the Short Track Nationals weekend.

With a POWRi West win to his credit already this season, McIntosh looks for Nationals honors this weekend in Illinois among the POWRi and USAC ranks.

Along with RL Hudson and Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the ambitious 2018 slate of events possible includes American Discount, Complete Auto Care, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Sanders and Associates, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication and Car and Fleet.

2018 Quick Stats: 30 races, 1 win, 5 top-fives, 12 top-tens.
