Will MCS ever get thier act together? I haven't been there in a while ,but things haven't changed. Between the gas prices and the equipment that the racers tear up a guy can't hardly afford to run out there. the only safe place to run is in first. I don't believe I will Ever be coming back.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY SPEEDWAY

TRACKS ROUGH
PIT AND SPECTATOR EMMISIONS ARE HIGH
FOOD PRICES HIGH
POOR ORGANIZATION
ROUGH DRIVING

I'm hoping you meant to write "Pit and Spector ADmissions are High"--because if specator EMMISIONS are high, I know I don't need to be attending any races there!! Is the track food really that bad?! :):)

The track was rough this past Saturday, but the two weekends before that the track was good. The food at the concession stand isn't great, but at the Pit Stop down from the concession stand is good!

Spectator emissions are high..... EEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKk... I know I don't want to be sitting around Kenny Harris or Shannon Burch when we go then.

I was wondering if they were going to loose the UMP latemodels there since they have a low turn out? I don't know how ump goes about that stuff but was wondering.

If Godfrey didn't lose their sanction in the 90's when they were only getting 5-10 LMs, I can't believe MCS will lose theirs. That being said, I would think the market will dictate that they drop the class in order to drop their required payout for the nights racing. How much can they be pulling in from pit passes from the LMs when the field sizes are so small?

Perhaps I am wrong on this, but I believe I've heard in the past that UMP required a minimum of $700 to win. Perhaps someone could inform me whether this is still the case--as well as what the winner makes over there. I wonder how long they will continue to justify paying such a purse if the field sizes do not increase. Also, can they continue to run 4 car heat races and 8 car features and expect LM fans to pay full price admission?

Perhaps they need to think about switching to the IMCA "crate" models for next year and affilate with Quincy, or maybe switch to a steel block format of some sort.

well I hope more Latemodel drivers do come back. I love going to that track to watch the UMP cars there. I would love to see a UMP track here in Quincy but that will never happen. lol i know dream on :D

Hey Dirty it's amazing how you can know so much about a track you haven't been to in a while? Next time post under your real handle rather than one you just created to go track bashing....lol

Maybe they need to go to an open rule like LA Raceway and Adrian Speedway. There is no Saturday night track west of 71 hwy and North on 54 highway. Have to to Adrian or I-44 to see Late Models on Saturday night in this part of the state.

Hey Trashdog, please leave me out of your argument with Dirty :) Also,I understand that typos happen--i.e. spectator emmisions :)-- but if you're going to refer to me, could you SPELL MY NAME RIGHT?!

Brandon, Sorry for picking on you, I was just saying I believe your a real person now that you've been posting for a bit.

Try not to be wrapped so tight, it's only racing.

Rough Track

I Went To Watch Last Sat. At Montgomery County I Did Not See Much Ruff Driving On The Drivers Part But The Track Was Really Bad They Have Had A Lot Of Rain Up There But I Think Mel Needs To Spend A Little More Time In Prepping The Track, I Think The Drivers Did A Pretty Good Job Considering How Bad The Track Was And Pricing Is Not Out Of Line With Any Other Track In The Area, It Cost $27.00 For The Driver At 1-44 To Race And Most Tracks Have Gone To At Least $25.00 For A Pit Pass I Dont Know What It Cost In The Stands But I Know It Is A Lot Cheaper Than Taking In A Ball Game And A Lot More Entertaining, I Would Not Want To Be Any Where Else On A Sat. Night If Given A Choice, It Cost Money To Run A Track And To Keep Improving Things But The The Track Is Always Ruff In The First Part Of The Season, It Should Get Better And If U Have A ***** Take To Mel He Always Willing To Listen And And Still Can Still Be Found To Be Talked To.

Want to talk about bad food try pevely. I went there thid past weekend and there food was horrible. You get a burger the size of one you get at McD's and pay what $3.50 for it it was cold and tasted like it had sat there all night. At MCS you get a quater pounder for $3.25 and it HOT.

cry babies

Rough track? I was talking to some guys from Benton who said it was the smoothest track they have raced on in a long time. They aslo said they would be coming back. I think if you dont like the track keep your car on the trailer. Maybe the complainers should go to race on a few other tracks and find it is generally the same everywhere. Cry babies stay home.

I guess there will be alot of b!*ching about MCS having a rough track because we had some heavy rain this week. With that being said, if the track is in fair to good shape this weekend, do you think MCS bashers will give Mel credit for getting the track in good shape? I doubt it. Track preparation is an ongoing thing and sometimes you get it right, sometimes you're a little off. More times than not, the track is in pretty good shape.
