I use to live in Desloge and remember my dad taking me racing on Saturday nights and watching Tubby Black and the Worleys. Man I loved that place but we had to move to Kentucky with the Corvette plant.I live within 10 miles of a dirt track but they dont run sprints. Our big classes are late models and open wheel modifieds. They are fast but I still love those sprints.I am glad to say that I got my first taste of clay dirt at SFCR.

Hey !

What a really nice post l8tmodlefan. Sorry your not in this area because i think we have some of THE BEST racing action at Farmington as there is ! And the Sprints always put on an awsome show. Take Care and nice hearing from ya :) LeaDonna

I still have two sisters that that live in Missouri and I want to visit them before summer is over so I can make the show at Farmington.I remember watching some of the cars leave the track. Do they have a fence around the track now?Do they still have the fair there?I cant remember who owned the track then,it was in the early 80's when I went there.I have been to Pevely because I used to work for UMP and I teched cars there.Does that one guy still come up and race from Paducah?(I cant remember his name)I think there used to be a driver with one arm and they called him the one armed bandit.Gosh I loved that place.

WOW L8tmodel

You would not believe the place now. It is truely one of the nicest racing facilities i have ever been to. There is a concrete wall will a catch fence on top of that. There is very nice restrooms now inside the track stands and pits. Remember the old ones, you had to go out the gate to use and then come back into the gate to finish watching the races ? That is no longer. Yes, they continue to hold the fair there in the parking area. The race track is now used for the concert area. This year they are having David Allen Coe. Free concert with admission into fair area ( $3 ) Sooo much has changed over the years. As far as owners, im only guessing others would know but maybe Ray Marler .... or Willard Sales ? Not sure it may have been the Griefs ........ What a fun walk down memory lane :) LeaDonna

Thanks for the info,if I make it to Missouri before the end of the season I will be there. Is Tubby Black like the Scott Bloomquist of late models.(some love him but more hate him).LOL
