Batesville, Arkansas (October 3rd, 2006) – This Saturday night, October 7th the 2006 campaign for the Mid America Racing Series will conclude at Bolivar Speedway USA in Bolivar, Missouri.
Bill Frye (Arkansas), who owns three series’ titles, is the current point’s leader and will be leading his fellow M.A.R.S. competitors into battle. Frye holds a 68 point advantage over Terry Phillips (Missouri) heading into the finale. Jeff Taylor (Arkansas) sits firmly in the 3 rd position in points. Only 53 points separate the drivers in the 4 th through 8 th positions in the current point standings, and this final event will be pivotal in the determination of the final standings. Steve Rushin (Missouri), Jeff Floyd (Arkansas), Billy James (Missouri), Justin Wells (Arkansas), and Will Vaught ( Missouri) currently make up these spots. Other drivers, who are expected for this weekend’s events include Joey Mack (Missouri), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), Dane Dacus (Tennessee), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), and many more.
Heading into the season finale, Will Vaught from Crane, Missouri is the current Rookie of the Year point’s leader.
Although M.A.R.S. will be the title sanction of Saturday night’s race, the event will also be co-sanctioned by the MLRA Late Model Series, the NCRA Late Model Series, and the TORA Late Model Series. The traveling competitors will also face a very strong contingent of local racers. The 40 lap feature event will pay $3,000 to win and $500 to start.
Racing action is slated to get underway at 6:00 on Saturday night. Adult admission is $20 with children 6-12 $5 and ages 5 and under are free.
