Batesville, Arkansas (April 4, 2007) – After a long winter’s rest, the stars and cars of the Mid America Racing Series are set to return to action with the season opener at Randy Mooneyham’s Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri on Sunday, April 8th

The 2006 season was a strong year for the M.A.R.S. tour with seven different drivers picking up feature wins during the course of the twenty-one race schedule. Twenty one races are already scheduled for the 2007 tour with more dates to be added in the next few weeks. 2007 is shaping up to be another great season with 2006 Champion, Bill Frye (Arkansas), headlining the list of drivers returning to the M.A.R.S. tour. Frye has amassed four series’ titles to date, and will be looking to add a fifth championship this year. Terry Phillips (Missouri), who is the only other driver to ever win a M.A.R.S. championship, owns three series’ titles will be looking to stop Frye in his tracks. Other drivers, who are expected to possibly compete for the championship in 2007 include Jeff Taylor (Arkansas), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Will Vaught (Missouri), Steve Rushin (Missouri), Joey Mack (Missouri), Billy James (Missouri), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), Jeremy Payne (Missouri), and many more.

A few surprise entries have voiced an intent on entering this Sunday’s event including Nextel Nascar driver, Ken Schrader, from Festus, Missouri. A strong local contingent will also be on hand to try and keep the money in southwest Missouri.

Drivers will also like to note that in 2007 all M.A.R.S. events will also count as U.M.P. point's events. This will give drivers an added incentive to compete with the M.A.R.S. tour.
