Batesville, Arkansas (8/21/07) – The Mid America Racing Series Super Late Models (M.A.R.S.) will return to action this week in a four race challenge series with the United Midwestern Promoters Super Late Models.
The M.A.R.S. competitors were last in action two weeks ago at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. When the dust settled on the night, it was Terry Phillips picking up the win as he continues to climb the M.A.R.S. point’s ladder. After the event, the M.A.R.S. standings are tighter than ever with Greenbriar, Arkansas driver, Bill Frye, leading the points by a single point over Crane, Missouri’s, Will Vaught. Terry Phillips from Springfield, Missouri sits a mere 21 points out of first place after a rough start to the year. Other M.A.R.S. competitors, who will be looking to make up points in the chase in this week’s events include Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), Terry Phillips (Missouri), Jeremy Payne (Missouri), and many more.
The M.A.R.S. competitors will square off against a strong field of U.M.P. Super Late Models each night. All of the events will pay an impressive $5,000 to win and $500 to start.
Action will get underway on Wednesday, August 22nd at Tri City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois with a 40 lap event around the 3/8 mile. UMP Modifieds will also be racing for $2,000 to win and Street Stocks for $300 to win. General admission is $18 with kids 12 and under free. Pit passes are $30 for all ages.
