Lebanon, Mo.- The Cash Money Dirt Late Model Series will be bringing several of the local talent to The 18th Annual Tony Roper Memorial Sunday Evening to The Lebanon Midway Speedway and no one is more excited than Buffalo's Mark Simon.
Simon, the current Bomber point leader at Midway and winner of most full bodied type cars( Street Stocks, Bombers and Pure Stocks) in Southwest Missouri is excited that the Late Model Series rolls into Lebanon Sunday evening. Simon has been competing in the Series this season in his familiar number 23 ranking 7th in the point standings after 3 races,
Simon who has logged several laps around Midway and countless wins feels that he might have a liitle advantage come Sunday Night. He has brought the Late Model for some extra practice during the regular shows and has looked impressive in his Waterman Trucking/Simon Transport #23. Simon won The Double Down Asphalt Das at West Plains which includes the top 5 finishers from the previous feature race worth $100.
The whole Series is excited about coming to Midway for The Roper Memorial and is looking at a very strong field of Late Models. This deal has helped reel-in some of the cost, putting us on a shock rule and some of the other things done has helped bring drivers back to Late Model Racing.I know guys like Justin Wells, Leslie Essary, Brandon Hunter and point leader Jon Driskell are tough. In fact we are going be really busy Sunday Night as we will have 2 Late Models racing as B-Mac( Lebanon's Brandon McCormick) will be driving the other car. Brandon is a Lebanon driver and started his racing career in The Sportsman class at Dallas County. He is a driver that felt the cost was out of hand and we feel that with this race at his hometown he needs to be competing. He is a good wheelman and will add to a big list of drivers going to be tough.
More local talent added to the Late Model Competition-Lebanon's Brian Schutt and Shawn Whitman have joined forces to compete in The Cash Money Dirt Series Sunday Night in The Whitman Trucking number 13. Both these drivers have competed against each other in the very tough Street Stock Class. Schutt who was 2nd in the Street Stock Feature on opening night at Midway and won a feature during the Fall Shootout Series last year has Open Late Model experience. This will add another top notch driver competing to grab the Roper Trophy.
Racing action will also feature The USRA S&S U-Pull It Auto Parts B Modifieds paying $777 to win, The Mi-Kel Industries Midwest Modifieds paying $555 to win, The Complete Services Pure Stocks running for $333 to win and The Sing Rental Hornets buzzing around for $222 to win. These payouts are based on a 13 car field Minimum and are track point races.
Grandstand gates will open at 5 with Hot laps slated at 6:30 with racing at 7:30. A special autograph Late Model session is scheduled on track at the break.
