“New partnership will compete under the banner, “TEAM GREEN”

(Woodstock, GA) Mike Vaughn and Gary Temples along with the 1997 Dirt Track World Champion, Marshall Green have joined forces in an exciting new racing partnership for the 2003 season of dirt late model competition. The new partnership has been coined, Team Green and will race with Green’s familiar number 89 with primary sponsorship from Woodstock Auto Exchange, Temples Construction, and longtime Marshall Green supporter Barto Enterprises. The team will be fueled with the support efforts of Bearden Oil Company (Eastman, GA) with horsepower for the Warrior Race Cars provided by Hatfield Racing Engines (Joplin, MO).

Green, a native of Dalton, GA holds an impressive racing resume and has become a fan favorite at short-tracks across America as one the most popular and recognizable names in the dirt late model segment of auto racing. “The Lawman”, a bi-product label of his first-name Marshall, has assembled an impressive racing resume which puts him among a who’s who list of dirt late model pilots. Green gained local and regional Motorsports notoriety at the age of 16 by winning the track championship at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, GA in 1990. The following season Green etched with an equally impressive accomplishment becoming the youngest driver ever to qualify for the “Hav-A-Tampa Shootout” at Dixie Speedway at 17 years of age, a record which stands today on the Xtreme Dirt Racing Series sanctioned by the United Dirt Track Racing Association. By continuing to spread his racing efforts to tracks across the southeastern United States, Green went on to take the Southern All-Stars Series (SAS) Rookie of the Year honors in the 1995 then parlayed the experience into a SAS Championship Title the following season capturing the tour’s crown in 1996.

“I have won at a lot of different levels of our sport and this upcoming season, I am looking to return to those winning ways,” comments Green from his home near Cartersville, GA. “Our main goal this season is to win, win, and win! Basically, we want to be consistent, win some races, and have fun.”

Green’s biggest payday came in 1997 when he captured one of the sport’s most prestigious titles winning the Dirt Track World Championship at Pennsboro Speedway in West Virginia. The victory at the fabled Pennsboro oval was worth $50,000 as Green also captured his first-ever Hav-A-Tampa series win in 1997 with a victory at Tri-State Speedway at Haubstadt, IN claiming the “Haubstadt” 100 along with a Southern All-Stars event win in front of the packed house at Talladega Short Track in Talladega, AL made for a truly successful season. Throughout the following five years, Marshall Green captured checkered flags in all divisions of dirt late model racing with three wins in the former UDTRA Hav-A-Tampa (today known as the Xtreme Dirt Racing Series) and numerous non-sanctioned event victories at southeastern racing facilities including North Georgia Speedway, Dixie Speedway and Rome Speedway. Marshall also successfully transferred into the nine most prestigious dirt late model events of 1999 including the “DREAM”, “The World 100” and the “Show Me 100,” a major accomplishment in itself with some of the events seeing in excess of 200 entries vying for a starting spot in the 24-26 field grids. With Green’s 4 career victories in the Xtreme Dirt Car Series to go with his many other achievements, Team Green is aiming to vault their racing program to the top of the national charts.

“Mike and I did not want to put together a fly by night racing program. We wanted to work together closely this season, take our time and build this team to one of the premiere dirt late model teams in the country,” concluded Marshall.

Mike Vaughn has been a mainstay in the short-track racing arena and has fielded entries for several of the sports more notable and seasoned hot shoes over the past decade. Vaughn has numerous car-owner victories including Southern All-Stars sanctioned events and the season-opening “Ice Bowl” at Talladega Short Track to go with a substantial number of feature event wins at tracks over the southeast. Gary Temples is a successful business proprietor in north Georgia and is also the owner of one of the team’s primary sponsors, Temples Construction. Both co-owners are very excited for the season to start and are very much looking forward to this season.

“Gary and I are very excited and looking forward to the opportunity to work with Marshall and Sanford and Sandy Goddard of Warrior Chassis this year,” states Vaughn. “This is truly a team effort with not only me, Gary, and Marshall, but Sanford and Sandy Goddard of Warrior Race Cars and Larry Courtney at Hatfield Racing Engines. Everyone is very supportive of our new partnership and are very much apart of this team effort,” added Vaughn.

Team Green will have two race ready Warrior dirt cars for competition this season and will run an outlaw schedule throughout the season by racing in the sport’s big purse events, such as the $100,000 to win “DREAM” and “The World 100” at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway, plus other high-profile events including the “Show Me 100” at West Plains, MO and Batesville (AR) Speedway’s annual “Topless 100”. The team’s main concentration however will be their efforts in regional events throughout the southeast. The team’s first event of the 2003 campaign is tentatively scheduled at Delta Bowl Speedway on May 2-3, 2003 in Tunica, MS in Xtreme Dirt Car Series action.

“I have known Marshall for a long time, and we have been good friends as well as had some business dealings together in the past,” stated Vaughn from his Woodstock Auto Exchange dealership in Woodstock, GA. “Marshall is an excellent driver with a solid background in racing. I believe that we can both compliment each other to build the type of racing program that we are both trying to achieve. This could very well be a long-term deal with Marshall to build this team to one of the top team’s in the country,” concludes Vaughn.

Team Green’s racing efforts are sponsored by Woodstock Auto Exchange,
