Action Picking Back Up In Weekly Classes

Thursday & Saturday Races To Entertain Fans

Race fans at Macon Speedway have been treated to some great racing as of late and that won’t change this weekend. Not only will the track be hosting the 35th running of the Herald & Review 100 for the Summer Nationals Hell Tour on Thursday, the track will open right back up on Saturday for a full six division program.

The Thursday, July 9 show will feature three classes of racing. The UMP Dirtcar Late Models will be on hand running 100 laps for the Summer Nationals Hell Tour. The race will also double up as an event on the Midwest Big Ten Late Model schedule. The Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals will pair up with the Late Models for a big event, as well. Rounding out Thursday’s program will be the B-Mods, who have had a long layoff on the Macon schedule with all of the recent special events.

The Saturday, July 11 program will see an action packed evening with six divisions of racing. In addition to the Midwest Big Ten Pro Late Models, the Sportsman will be back in action running a Topless 40, paying $600 to win. The Billingsley Towing Modifieds, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and Hornets will also compete. The night will also feature half price admission for ladies at just $6 for Bud Light Ladies Night.

The current championship standing leaders in the regular Macon divisions include Tommy Sheppard, Jr. (Berlin, IL) in the Pro Late Models, Rodney Standerfer (Germantown, IL) in the Billingsley Towing Modifieds, James Farley, Jr. (Springfield, IL) in the B-Mod class, Timmy Dick (Monticello, IL) Sportsman, Terry Reed (Decatur, IL) in the Street Stocks, and Adam Webb (Decatur, IL) in the Hornets.

On Thursday, July 9, pit gates will open at 3:00, grandstands at 4:00, hotlaps at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00. Grandstand admission will be $25 for adults and children 11 and under are $5.

Saturday, July 11 festivities start with pits opening at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps beginning at 6:00 when the pill draw ends, and racing takes the green at 7:00. Admission for Saturday’s events will be $12 for adults and free for children 11 and under. It will also be Bud Light Ladies night, where ladies get in for 1/2 price.

Macon Speedway Hit With Second Straight Cancelation
July 11 Program A Wash

Officials at Macon (IL) Speedway were forced to postpone the Saturday, July 11 program due to heavy morning rains that came through central Illinois. The heavy rains, on top of already saturated grounds caused the second straight rainout and the sixth in 17 nights of racing at the 1/5-mile speedplant.

On tap was Miles Chevrolet/Bud Light Ladies Night. Six divisions of action were scheduled to run including the Sportsman in the Topless 40, the Midwest Big Ten Pro Late Models, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Next up for the 70th Anniversary Season will be Kid's Castle Night featuring the Hall of Fame Driver Reunion and CEFCU Kids Club. The Big Ten Super Late Models will be racing as well as the Billingsley Towing Modifieds, B-Mods, Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Pit gates open on Saturday, July 18 at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, hotlaps at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00. Adult admission is $15, while children 11 and under are free.

Also, for fans who want to see some great racing during the week, Track Enterprises will be hosting the USAC Indiana Sprint week at Terre Haute this coming Wednesday, July 15. The USAC Amsoil National Sprint Car tour will be racing at the historic Action Track. For full info, go to terrehauteactiontrack.net.
