Miller Tops Midway Mods/Jackson Jr Takes First Ever Dirt Win

Lebanon,Mo.-Despite overcast skies and rainy conditions around,racing action swung back in full force friday Night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway as over 70 raceteams checked into the pits with several new first time winners grabbing checkered flags.

The Modified feature saw second generation driver Rustin Miller grab the lead from his second row starting spot and never looked back in grabbing the 20 A feature while Darren Fullerton recorded his best career finsih with a solid runner-up spot.The real battle was back and forth as Troy Treadway and James Hartman along with Reggie Jackson were battling for third place until the trio came together in turn 4 bringing out the yellow.As the field went back to green flag racing,Rustin "The Houston Hustler" Miller checked out again as Fullerton stayed a solid second place as now Blake Koetting had charged into third place as Hartman and Jackson were coming through the field while Eric Eagleburger was battling for position also.When the checkered waved,Miller grabbed his first Midway feature win and became the 3rd different winner out of 4 races this season.Following the second generation racer to the line was Fullerton,Koeting,Jackson and Eagleburger at the stripe.

A solid field of SuperStocks took the green with pole setter Tony Jackson Jr grabbing the early lead followed closely by James Rutledge,Lonnie Winland,Rick Brown,Tim Petty and Joe Miller along with Ben Newell has these drivers were swapping spots back and forth.On lap 3,Brown pulled to the pits with problems as Rutledge was closing in on the leader Jackson.Jody Schultz was now making some moves in the pack and coming fast through the field.On lap 10,Newell who was going for three in a row moved into third and challanging Rutledge who had closed on leader Jackson.On lap 11,James O'neill got into some lapped traffic and sheetmetal came off bringing out the yellow.At that same time,Rutledge developed problems taking him to the pits giving Newell the runner-up spot,but it wasn't to be as Newell developed problems and headed to pit row also_On the restart,Jody Schultz challanged Jackson for the lead,but Jackson held it down low strong.Back in the pack,Sean Williams and Tim Petty were battling for 4th place along with Dale Roper Jr. As the field took the white,Jackson Jr pulled ahead and claimed his first win on the dirt and became the 3rd different SuperStock winner this season.Following him to the stripe was Schultz,Joe Miller,Williams and Tim Petty.

The Factory feature took a wild event as Brad Gayer and Randy Berry brought the field down to the green.Berry's car came to a quick halt in turn 2 bringing out the yellow and ending his night.On the restart,Gayer grabbed the top spot with Bill Schoen,last weeks winner Tim Brown and kelly wallander battling for position.Back in the field Sean Williams was charging hard from row 5 and picking off cars one-by-one.With Gayer in control,Brown moved into second place and continued to battle Gayer for the lead while Dennis Jones and moving from mid-pack to challange.On lap 9,leader Gayer encontured lapped traffic with Brown riding his bumper.Gayer's car jumped up on 2 wheels coming out of turn 4 as the driveshaft came out giving the lead to brown.From there Brown checked out and recorded his second win of the season while the battle for second was tight between Jones and Schoen as Williams was coming quickly.At the checkered,it was Brown followed by Jones nipping Schoen for second as Kelly Wallander and Williams completed the top 5.

The Bomber feature was a wild affair as the 17 car field tok the green with Dave Williams and Tyler Schoen battling for the same piece of ground and both drivers spinning to the infield.On the restart, Bill Roberts grabbed the top spot from David Bates as Sheldon Roberts was charging through the field.Last weeks winner Dusty Rhoades developed problems and headed to the pits during a yellow,but returned before the green and tailed to the rear of the field.On the restart,bill Roberts looking strong found Sheldon Roberts on his bumper as the duo race hard for position.FactoryStock Winner Tim Brown driving his Enduro car was coming from the rear into the picture on the top 5 as was Dave Williams after restarting 17th.Eldon Stoner was challanging for third place when problems put him in the pits.While roberts and Roberts were battling,the man on the move was Dusty Rhoades after restarting 16th.On lap 8,leader Bill Roberts was battling Sheldon when the leaders hit lapped traffic and Bill Roberts got caught up in it and caught the frontstretch wall taking him out of action.On the restart,Sheldon was leading,but Rhoades was coming fast along with Dave Williams.On lap 13,Rhoades caught Roberts as they battled side-by-side.coming for the white flag,the leaders hooked each other and went to the infield as Dave Williams charged to take the lead.Never losing speed,Rhoades and Roberts kept moving and held position.At the stripe,it was Williams claiming the win followed by Rhoades,Roberts,Tim Brown and early contender David Bates.

The Mini-Stock feature was wild at the start as pole setter John Henson jumped to the lead,but caught the burm in turn1 and flipped his car as it landed on all 4 wheels and he kept it going.On the restart,Henson had busted a fuel line taking him out of action as Ike Moore grabbed the top spot and never looked back in becoming the 4th different Mini-stock Winner out of 4 races followed closely by the trio of Chris Hardesty,Mark Hardesty,Mike Piercey and last weeks winner Bryan Deatherage in a wild race for seconf place as those three were bumper to bumper.

Next Weekend is a special event as Friday Night the regular show of Modifieds,SuperStocks,FactoryStocks,Bombers and Mini-stocks will take center stage along with Kenny Scharder's Nextel Cup Dodge to be on hand for viewing and Sat Night at Midway will be the special Enduro 100 lap feature paying 2000 to the winner along with special paying events for the Modifieds,Winged SprintCars,and FactoryStocks as Friday night racing will start at 8PM and Sat Night Racing for 7:30.

Next Weekend the Latemodels will not be racing with all the special events going on,but LateModel Racing will return Friday Night Sept.3 as the IMCA LateModels head to make there first appreance at the Midway.Special prizes from Dowd's Catfish House were given away at intermission along with Morgan Fencing giving out an extra $50 to a bomber driver with the position being draw early.JR Baronowski with his 7th place finish grabbed the extra money for that class.
