MISSISSIPPI LABOR DAY TRIPLE CROWN UP NEXT FOR NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Mississippi Labor Day Triple Crown is up next for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour with three races in three days at three tracks - Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS on Friday night, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on Saturday night, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS on Sunday night.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will make its first-ever visit to the ¼-mile gumbo clay oval at Greenville Speedway on Friday night for Round 18 of the 2009 season with the $2,000-to-win Washington Auto Body and Paint 40.

Columbus Speedway will host its third NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Touring event of the season with Round 19 on Saturday night with the $2,500-to-win Bubba Trucks By NeSmith 50. The third jewel of the Mississippi Labor Day Triple Crown will be Round 20 of the 2009 season at Magnolia Motor Speedway on Sunday night with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win main event.

The battle for the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series $20,000 National Championship is in full swing, and four Mississippi drivers are in the mix, not only for the National title, but also for the $5,000 Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year Award.

Eric Cooley, an 18-year-old driver from Fulton, MS, is the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point leader coming into the Mississippi Labor Day Triple Crown. Cooley has 1,436 points with a series-leading seven top five finishes, and a series-leading 13 top ten finishes in 17 starts driving the 78 Towing and Recovery Victory Circle.

Cooley has an 86-point lead over Larry Boutwell of Baker, FL. Boutwell, the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Championship Runner-Up has 1,386 points with three top fives and nine top tens in 17 starts driving the McLeod Construction Rocket.

Boutwell has a 62-point advantage over Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, GA. Rainey has 1,286 points with two wins, five top fives, eight top tens, and a series-leading four McLeod Construction Fast Time Awards in 17 starts driving the Hays Family Racing/Barto Enterprises Warrior.

Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA will be looking to climb into the top four of the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National points chase at the Mississippi Labor Day Triple Crown. Turner has 1,262 points with five top fives, 10 top tens, and one McLeod Construction Fast Time Award in 17 starts driving the Turner Excavating DWB.

Two Mississippi drivers are battling for the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National point standings, and the Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year Award.

Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is sixth in the points chase, and leads the Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year standings with 1,120 points. The 19-year-old young gun has one top five and six top tens in 16 starts driving the Jerry Inmon Race Cars GRT. Washington holds a 26-point advantage over Ben McCreary of Baldwyn, MS.

McCreary is a 20-year-old Junior Accounting Major at Mississippi State University when he is not wheeling his Waddle Trucking Mastersbilt on the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour. McCreary has 1,094 points with two top fives, five top tens, and one McLeod Construction Fast Time Award in 17 starts.

Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS holds down the eighth spot in the current NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National standings with 822 points. Minga has 15 starts with one top ten finish driving the B&M Salvage Mastersbilt.

The Mississippi Labor Day Triple Crown will also be well represented by drivers that have visited Victory Lane this season on the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour.

Seven-time Mississippi State Late Model Champion Mike Boland of Cuba, AL has two wins this season. Boland has six career wins with the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour to rank fourth on the all-time list, and one of those wins came at Magnolia Motor Speedway.

Bub McCool of Vicksburg, MS has a win this season, and the last two winners of NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National events are Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL and Todd Morrow of East Ridge, TN. Tanner English of Benton, KY took a series win earlier this year at Columbus Speedway, and at the age of 14 became the youngest winner ever with the series.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will present a complete program at all three venues – Friday night at Greenville Speedway, Saturday night at Columbus Speedway, and Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway – with McLeod Construction Qualifying, heat races, B-main races, and a feature event.

Fans will have an opportunity to get in on the action and also benefit the local chapter of the American Cancer Society with the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS “Ride For Life” two-seat dirt late model on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway, and on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Fans will have an opportunity to bid for rides with their favorite driver in a special auction.

NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Series Mississippi drivers Eric Cooley, Chase Washington, Ben McCreary and Marcus Minga will be the drivers on the auction block to give the highest bidder the “Ride For Life” with six laps at race speed.

There will also be a special drawing each night where the winner will get to choose the driver they strap in next to for the “Ride For Life.” All of the proceeds go to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. So far this season, the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS “Ride For Life” car has generated over $12,000 to benefit the American Cancer Society.
