The Modern Chevrolet FASTRAK late model series will make its first appearance at the Travelers Rest Speedway in Travelers Rest SC this coming Saturday. Jonathan “Superman” Davenport has been the 'man to beat' as he has won both touring events of the 08 season. Davenport currently is the point leader of the Touring Division in the SE United States.
The Travelers Rest Speedway is expected to be a great show. "Track Promoters Jody Palmer and Scott Childress have done a great job with the track" said Stan Lester of FASTRAK. “Jody has worked with us and both Jody and Scott have raced with us. That being the case they know what to expect from them and they know what to expect from us. The combination should make it a great show for the fans"!
The Late Model Touring division sponsored by Modern Chevrolet of Winston Salem NC has enjoyed a great start of the season. 39 cars at the first race at Lavonia Speedway (GA) then 41 cars at the second event at 311 Speedway (NC) The series has enjoyed incredibly good car counts and proved to host some of the best drivers in the country.
"Stan and I work well together" said Jody Palmer of Travelers Rest. “We know what to expect from each other and this should make it one of the best shows for FASTRAK and Travelers Rest Speedway of the 08 season. With the upcoming $5000 to win 'Foothills State Championship coming here June 6th and 7th it really is the perfect timing for this race".
It will be the first opportunity of the 08 season for the FASTRAK drivers to do their honorary autograph session. "The events to this point have been so packed we haven't had time to do the autograph session like we normally do” stated by Doug Gillenwater of FASTRAK. “Taking care of the fans is important and I know out management team is excited about that”.
The fans will witness an action packed weekend as the FASTRAK format includes a lot of racing. Qualifying by all cars to ‘lock in the Top Twelve”. The balance of the field will transfer by heat races with one last opportunity for several teams to make it in the ‘big show’ through a last chance race. It doesn’t stop there. The top six teams each draw a number whereby they start the main event.
The FASTRAK souvenir trailer will be on hand this weekend. The rig has all sorts of FASTRAK related items in including FASTRAK sportswear, hoodies, thermal cups and cozies, de cast cars, decals and many other items.
