Drivers from the Street Stock and Modified divisions have one last chance to ready their cars for the 4th of July weekend specials this Saturday, June 28 during Comfort INN Race Night at Warrensburg’s high banked racing surface. Central Missouri Speedway on the Kenny’s Tile track will be featuring the ULMA Late Models, B-Modifieds, Street Stocks and “mighty” Modifieds. The fast paced show at CMS continues to amaze local fans when they leave the track with the exciting features finished around 10:30 most weekends. The racing action this weekend continues to heat up the track along with the weather leading into the 4th of July weekend specials.

Last weekend featured another fast and smooth racing surface with the late model class in the spot light during their annual special with Jon Binning of Warrensburg taking home the $800 feature win for his fourth feature win this season. Binning is the current track ULMA late model point’s leader with David Angell, Randy Ainsworth, Jason Bodenhamer and Brett Wood chasing him close behind.

In the chase for the weekly track points championship in the Modified class, Aaron Marrant, who placed in the top five last weekend maintains his lead ahead of Terry Schultz, who drove the high side last Saturday night into a third place finish is just points ahead of veteran Tim Karrick in third. Don Dannar and Doug Walrath round out the top five in the points race in this weekly display of the top modified drivers around the area.

The consistent top five finishes for Herb Dannar continued last week with a third place in the feature. He continues maintaining a slim lead over the rest of the Street Stock field. Nic Bennett stays in the second position with another consistent driver, Roger Stone in third. Tammy Korff moves into fourth place with last weeks’ feature winner Brain Johnson in fifth.

Scotty Martin maintains his position as the point’s leader in the b-modified division with season low seventh place finish last weekend. Several other drivers young and not so young are in a battle for the remainder of the top ten positions. Bobby Raybourn is in the second position with Jeremy Lile just 12 points behind in third. Rusty Trimble moves up to fourth as a result of his first b-modified feature win last Saturday. Michael King and Bryon Montgomery are just 10 points apart in a close battle for the fifth spot.

The final preparations for the 4th of July weekend Tom Wilson Memorial Modified and Street Stock Specials get underway this Saturday night with hot laps at 7 and with racing on the track at 7:30. Pit gates open at 4:30 and fans can enter the grandstands at 5. Fans and drivers may purchase their advance 2-day admission tickets for the upcoming Tom Wilson Memorial BBQ bowl, which is just around the corner on Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th.
