I am once again coming to the racers for their thoughts. I have been in contact with UMP, what are you guys thoughts on sanctioning?

Im with everyone else.. It only helps to be getting national points, and a chance at end of the year money..

I am going to go against the grain here, and say that if you were to go IMCA sanctioned, you would probably have more cars than you can imagine. They're more affordable, tires cost much less, and there is a points fund there as well. In Michigan, everyone around went to UMP, and after about 3 years, they all were doing other things because they got too expensive. If you go UMP Sanctioned, you are competing with St. Francois county, and Pevely on Saturday nights for cars. The nearest IMCA sanctioned track is West Plains. Chrystal speedway also in Michigan is IMCA sanctioned, and they have 30+ cars every week and have for the past 25+ years. Just a thought. I'd be all for it. Brad Quinn

most cars around here are ump and if you go imca you will lose out on several cars that plan on attending.. i will not change my car over to run imca when we run to many ump tracks..

i would just run a loose set of rules to start with and see who will be there every week to support the track and not go with rules for the guys that are traveling around, just makes good bussiness since.like brad said benton is competing againt farmington and peavly on sat.night dont think those guys will be coming to benton unless they get rained out.

Imca is far different from what most cars in this area are. They are actually close to the limited rules. The rules we have aet in place are about as liberal as they can be. Just about any modified in the area can come and race, with the exception of the guys that have gotten way out of line with their bodies. Some of those cars were not even legal for other tracks by the rules, but were just allowed to run anyway.

No one's asking you to change your car over

No one says you have to. You live in Farmington, and your argument for them switching to UMP was that you drove past there on your way to Pevely. Now, you have 2 tracks to pick from. Why do you care about what Benton does? What you all fail to see is that by having 3 tracks that close together running the same cars on the same night you water down the car count at any of the 3 tracks. If you look at it from a financial standpoint, I'd want to run something that is more affordable for the racer, that draws a good crowd, and will stand the test of time. Think about this: when the guys who are currently running at Pevely and Farmington figure out that they can't afford to run there anymore due to the high cost of running UMP, where do you think they'll go? This means car counts at Benton go up, and not the other direction. I would definitely go there as opposed to either of the 2 other tracks if they went IMCA sanctioned. I want to run IMCA for points, and I'd like to go to Boone in the fall. And as for the IMCA rules being "much different than most of the cars in the area.." thats not true. Last year, Malden, Farmington, and Poplar Bluff were all "IMCA-outlaw" rules. No aluminum heads, no q/c, etc. Those guys are being forced to spend more money to compete in UMP. IMCA is much more affordable for the racer, just as much fun, and you can't tell an ounce of difference from the stands. Just my opinion based on experience. Good luck in what ever you do Benton. I hope you can make it work. Brad Quinn

Well i can tell you that if UMP is the only option no thanks. Tires from UMP just went up to $130 each. We ran G60s at Malden for less than 100 each and they last twice as long and dont hook up as much power making for better racing and less engine needed to compete. USRA would be a better option than UMP.

UMP has been offering promoters Hoosier money this year from what I have heard, and I am NOT saying that is the case now, but in the end the racers are the ones that suffer. UMP is trying to tell us all in this area that going to the A40 will help with tire costs. the truth is the A40 does not last much longer than the D40 and it cost the same. Plus it has plastic in it and glazes over when hot. Always good for restarts..NOT

Bottom line...UMP has ZIP/ZERO engine rules as well. So UMP has the softest tires and no engine rules which is going to kill this class quickly. look around south of MO and see how the mod class is doing under UMP rules and you will have your answer.

I hope Benton will consider all other options before choosing UMP, not only that but with all the other tracks going to UMP the cars will be split and if Benton offers another option than UMP you will have cars that come there just for Benton, instead of cherry picking UMP points and leaving.

also i have read on here points funds...all the other sanctions offer points funds as well this i not something soley done by UMP.

So again I am still hoping Benton chooses something other than UMP. thanks

Modracr 41, you are absolutely incorrect. Malden, farmington and bluff ALL allowed quick changes, aluminum heads and belt drive pumps. Farmington had a decent car count and they went UMP, dont you think there was some thought put into that decision?
Races in other classes are begging for tracks to work together and have unified rules so that a car isnt tied to 1 track. You guys want exactly the opposite? That doesnt make sense to me.

You listened. You disagree. I can respect that. I hope it works out for you. Brad Quinn

Thank you and I respect your stance as well. Everyone has their own opinions and we are simply trying to go with a majority, unfortunately you cant please everyone.

heard you out and also disagree. UMP is killing the class $130 tires and 20k engines will not last. however best of luck glad to see track is opening anyway.

My opinion is look at the big picture, you go UMP and maybe one day the track can get a Summer Nationals date! We need more Summer National events in Missouri.

The a40 Hoosier is the material as the g60 Hoosier and they quit glazing over years ago big difference from the d to the a tire. The imca motor is not cheaper if you want to win, what do you think Jeff Taylor won Boone with ? Mullins! There is always going to be the haves and the have nots so race with what you have and be supportive and then everyone will have options as to where they race , knowledge wins more races than money does!

Sanctioning would for sure help car count by giving guys more incintive to race there. I live in Farmington and if you sanction them I'd drive right by it and head your way. BTW I think UMP ****s as a whole but its the best option there is from a business stand point.
