CARTERSVILLE, GA – Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC has signed with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for the 2012 season, and begins an Eastward expansion for the series. Drivers in the Late Model Division at Modoc Speedway will compete for a track point fund and a National point fund that will pay $10,000 to the 2012 Champion and pay back ten spots.

In addition to signing with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, Modoc Speedway will also host the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pro Tour next season. The 4th Annual Modoc 100 will feature a pair of races for the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Pro Tour on March 1-3.

Modoc Speedway will host a practice session on Thursday night, March 1. On Friday night, March 2 the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pro Tour will compete in a $2,000-to-win event, and on Saturday night, March 3 the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Pro Tour will present a $5,000-to-win race.

“After talking to our late model drivers, we made the decision to sanction with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for 2012,” Modoc Speedway Promoter Brian Stewart said. “Modoc Speedway, as well as the late model drivers and teams are excited about being involved with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series. We all agree this is going to be a positive move for the track and the drivers that race here.”

Modoc Speedway has hosted a previous NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pro Touring event in 2006, and the track was also a part of the Weekly Racing Series in that season. Since then, Stewart and his promotional team have made many improvements to the Western South Carolina dirt track.

“The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Weekly Racing Series are excited to be returning to Modoc Speedway for the 2012 season,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said. “Brian Stewart and his team have worked hard to build a great facility and tradition with the Modoc 100 and their weekly program. We looking forward to being a part of this growing tradition and we’ll work with them in making it bigger and better in the future.”

Drivers at Modoc Speedway on Friday nights will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks through the country each weekend during a 27-week season from April 6, 2012 through October 7, 2012 through a points system. A competitor’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National point total.

Drivers can compete in multiple races each week with their highest single event point total counting for that week. A driver can also earn up to 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points that will be added to their best 14 week point total. A driver can earn as much as 800 points that represents 14 50-point wins and 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points.

Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points can be earned in two different ways. A driver can earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in four straight events at a single track. A driver can also earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event during the Weekly Racing Series season.
