JOHNNY BONE JR TOPS USMTS FIELD
Monett Mo. The USMTS Modified Touring series made it's first appearance of the season Sunday night at the Monett Speedway. 39 drivers were on hand with 8 different states represented.
When the 24 car field took the green Dustin Boney jumped out to take the early lead, followed by Tony Jackson Jr, and Kelly Shryock. Caution waved on lap 6 for a 3 car pile up in turn 1, stacking the field nose to tail. As the field restarted Johnny Bone Jr. started to make his move. Using the high groove Bone made the pass on lap 15 for the 1st position and went home unchallened to take the win. Boney 2nd, Shryock 3rd.
Bomber action saw Kelly Bremer get the win after him and Shawn Strong battled 15 laps side by side. The 2 made contact on the last lap, letting Bremer cruise to victory.
Billy Kelley took the Factory Stock race, Shawn Price in the rookie division, Corey Schudy in the Pro-4's, and Billy Street in the B-Mods.
Next Sunday night the Monett Speedway will host the 9th annual Tony Roper Memorial. The Orielly MARS late models will be on hand along with Modifieds, Pro-4's Bombers, and B-Mods. Gates will open at 5:00 racing beginning at 7:30.
