Monsters of the Midwest Tour introduces full time Safety Director, Emergency Medical Technician, Safety Technician , and assistant Safety Director.
(Decatur, Illinois) When the idea came about for a traveling Karting and Quarter Midget tour in the Midwest by the Midwest Motorsports Marketing group, the top three goals were simple. Safe, affordable, and fun. The final piece to the puzzle has now been put in place. With all the amenities the tour has to offer the fun goal fell into place. Then the team was hard at work to find ways to save teams money and make great competition affordable. Check. And now with the addition of four full time positions, filled with four highly qualified individuals the tour is set embark on its journey.
“Safety is first and foremost,” stated CEO, Bruce Dulgar, of Monsters of the Midwest Tour. “With the hiring of not just one but four individuals, we hope that the message is sent loud and clear,” he later went on to say. Monsters of the Midwest has also recently partnered with Bell Helmet , a leader in the industry for providing high quality racing personal protective equipment and has been proven since 1954.
Nicholas Zepin, 21, from Taylorville, Illinois will fill the position of Safety Director. Nicholas has studied and either completed or enrolled in courses such as Fire Science, Emergency Management, Hazmat Operations, Business Management, and many more at Richland Community College and Millikin University. Nicholas is also on his way to becoming a nationally recognized EMT. He also serves on the South Wheatland fire department.
The Emergency Medical Technician position will be filled by Sarah White of Argenta, Illinois. Sarah, 31, has been an EMT-B for 13 years. Sarah graduated Richland Community College and is also a Pediatric Emergency Pre-Hospital Provider.
Tom Stiverson from Hillsdale, Michigan will be the Safety Technician. This position will play double duty on race days as he also oversees the post race tech on the upcoming 2014 season. Tom will be in charge of pre-inspecting the safety of not only the karts/cars but all personal protective equipment. Tom has served as technical director for some of the major tours such as the Pro Kart Tour, Burris Thunder Tour, and Mid America Series.
The final position of assistant Safety Director will be filled by Jeremy Dugan, 27, of Decatur, Illinois. Jeremy currently serves as a fire fighter on the South Wheatland fire Department. Before that he was on the Cerro Gordo Department for 6 months. Jeremy is licensed in Basic Life Support and is currently enrolled at Fire College for Basic Recruit. He also serves on the Fire Prevention Open House Board.
Each one of these individuals has a passion for not only safety but for racing as well. This team was put together to ensure the safety goal was not simply met but surpassed. Safety in motorsports is at its peak and it is great to see up and coming organizations such as this one taking notice.
