LaSalle, IL - Brian Moon rolled into LaSalle Speedway with a Friday night win under his belt and the confidence to do it again on Saturday. In fact, by the end of the 75-lap Midwestern Late Model special the Wyanet driver was unstoppable.

Twenty three qualifiers gave it their all but Moon posted the quickest lap with a time of 14.028 to start his evening off. After the roll of the dice his tenth place position on the grid was determined.

At the front of the pack was Mark Jilbert on the pole next to Cody Sommer in front of Peru’s Joe Adam and Ralph Markham of Maple Park.

Once the green dropped, Sommer was out front with Jilbert and Markham fighting for second as Shane Hill, Eric Dauber and Moon trailed. Impressively, the green flag flew for over forty laps without caution giving the drivers a real shot at lap after lap action.

By Lap 13, Moon had made his way up to Sommer and started to put the pressure on. Two laps later Sommer was forced to a higher groove to dodge lapped traffic when Moon moved low and took over the point the next lap scored.

For the next four laps, Sommer held his own keeping the action rolling as the two battled behind lapped traffic. During Lap 20, the third place runner Markham tangled with a lapped car opening the door for Dauber to move into his spot.

Six laps following Dauber was on the hunt for the lead using the low line when he got loose sacrificing his run. A caution on Lap 45 brought the field back together as Moon was now three lapped cars away from his competition with Markham second in front of Dauber and Hill. A few laps later the yellow flew again this time for Dauber with a flat.

Once again, Moon was back in action and cruising alone at the helm. "I wondered where everyone else was I kept waiting for one of them to come up next to me," Moon acknowledged.

With only five laps to go the field found themselves nose to tail again for the single file restart but Moon went high and Markham didn’t have enough to catch him.

"I really appreciate all of my sponsors, friends and family for their support," Moon explained after winning the biggest race of the Midwestern Late Model division.

Markham held on to take home the runner up position over Hill, Sommer, Dan Thryselius, a hard charging Dauber, Rob Piper, Eric Rebholz, Jilbert, John Piccatto and Brian Ray.

West Chicago’s Jay Fiene started the Late Model feature on the pole next to Wauconda’s Skip Martin but by Lap 3 he was in control of the seventeen car field.

Martin, Bret Seivert, Jim Partipilo, Frank Reaber, Garrett Slager and Ryan Dauber followed as he shot through the corners. Several restarts early on brought the group back together but second place runner Seivert tried his luck over the cushion and fell back to third quickly.

During Lap 18, Fiene was still out all by himself and had to be thankful as those following were battling for each position. As Ryan was charging to the front several of the top contenders were banging off each other more then most had anticipated. Leaving several with sheet metal damage and Partipilo to the rear after finding himself more then a few scuff marks.

For the restart it was still Fiene on the point as Sievert, Ryan, Reaber, Martin, Mike Glynn, Slager and Jason Jaggers held the top eight positions.

Four laps later, Ryan flew high for the lead and a lap later stole it just before another yellow slowed the action. For the final restart Ryan was at the head with Fiene in second.

At the finish line it was Ryan over Fiene, Reaber and Martin. Glynn stole fifth away from Sievert at the line with Weistart seventh in front of Jaggers, Newquist and Partipilo.

Early in the night, Fiene won the Dash over Martin, Partipilo and Seivert. Rezutek took home the first Heat ahead of Joe Partipilo, Tim Brach and Jim Westaway. Reaber collected the fast Heat with Glynn second, Seivert third and Fiene fourth.

The Midwestern Sportsman drivers struggled to get the ball rolling and were forced to end their feature race with a mere nine laps in the record books. Officials determined they needed to call the race due to their repeated yellows.

Scott Cimei was in the lead for the final lap completed with Jim Phelps taking second in a borrowed car of Keith Piano. Last week’s winner Aaron Schmitt took third over BJ Grabow, Sharon Schlappi, Brian Claudnic, Jake Patterson, Dan Goodhand, Scott Hauge, Fleety Beltz, Tina Soberri and Bob Morgan.

Scott Schmitt won the Street Stock feature race over Dan Filkowski, Chuck Leason, Hoffman, Sharon Schlappi, Nick Sell, Legner, Jay Mesarchik, Gary Schmitt and Mike Stewart.

Next Saturday night is Fan Appreciation/Luau night with an adult admission cost of $5. The Enduro cars will be making their annual debut along with the Late Models and Midwestern Late Models.
