Mt.Vernon Practice

Sat. March 20,2004 is practice @ Mt.Vernon. Does anybody know what time it is ? & what time it is over?? What classes get to practice? ? & What does it cost to get in the pits for practice?? Thank You for any information regarding practice.
 
Who needs practice. Ricks boys and rodney can use the track whenver they want. And we all know they are all that matters in mt vernon.
 
now now hairy, let's not start this crap all ready......mt vernon is not the only place that rodney wins at......please, lets lay off alittle this year
 
I'm sorry you feel that way.We are right in the middle of fixing the guard rail that was tore up, we had about 50 bleacher boards tore off, we were thing to fix water lines, that vandals tore up in the tower concession. As well as waiting on Pepsi to bring new machine in, as someone stole all the Pepsi machines, as well as the icebox. Please do not start in on me already, because we have not started racing yet. We are trying to get this back in shape for the drivers as well as the fans for everyones saftey. Please have patience. I wanted to race just as bad as you, but it just was not possible. Thank you, Rick Heck
 
practice date

Mr. Heck. thumbs up to you, I believe that the fans are what makes a track run, and I for one , on my first visit there was not impressed with the shape of the stands and so forth, however you have a great track for racing and we enjoyed our evening, as a fan do what is needed and I am positive many more fans will follow, I will attend another race just to see if your stands can hold my behind, my friends and I kind were a bit concerned of the condition of the standsand and said " oh boy", please do not be offended, that was the first thing that turned me off to your track. You have good track for racing and we loved each race.Thank you.
 
Yes, please layoff of Mr. Heck along with Rodney. Rodney is only doing what he loves to do. People should not have a problem with a local person that wins alot. Would you like it better if someone from out of state would come here and win? Mr. Heck, I agree with lisser, a big thumbs up to you and your staff for trying to make the race track safer for us fans, make sure you fix the boards up in the Melvin section(this is a joke). I will up there plenty with Rodney's mom & aunt. Hope everything is fixed soon so we can start racing. Good Luck this year Rodney & Bobby(if you are racing this year).

can anyone tell me if mt.vernon has a min. age requirement for the pits?thinking about runnin in a few weeks just to cure the itch,but want to take the whole family.thanks in advance.

I dont think there is a min. age requirement , just as long as your willing to pay $25 a head.
 
How about some pa speakers in the backstretch. We pit in turn 3 and watch from the backstretch. Can't here whats going on.

yeah, how about some speakers on the backstretch? I would even help put them up if someone would come up with some!

I really wish people would stay off the track champions--with the best equipment and the most seasoned drivers and the most hours spent in maintaining this equipment they deserve to be track champions no matter what their name is. After all I have the most respect for the Melvin family since his Dad (Bob) raced a green Dodge Coupe and won the championship when I was a boy- 40 years ago. We are all winners just some of us invest more time and energy in the sport. After all the fans come to see all of us not just some of us. TOGETHER WE MAKE THE SHOW AND SEPERATED WE CLOSE THE TRACK. SO LET'S RACE!!!

Yes very well said and so true Tommy. So I am not the only one that remembers Bob Sr. driving a Barracuda at the old Benton track. Also Larry Gower ran it. I was asking momma Melvin last year if anyone had a pic of Bob and his old Barracuda. I wanted to make a copy of it. I still would like to have a copy of it. Thanks for a great post Tommy.
