NARA DirtCar 23rd Annual KY Klassic This Friday, Aug 27 at Barren County Speedway!

Glasgow, KY-August 23- The new promotion team at Barren County Speedway and the Lucas Oil NARA DirtCar Series will present the longest running Dirt Late Model event in the state of Kentucky with the 23rd Annual Kentucky Klassic this Friday night, August 27. The event will be 60 laps and pay $7,000 to win the race, matching the $7,000 amount the race paid in 1984 when it was captured by Hall of Famer Pat Patrick of Saylor Park, OH.

The evening will consist of a complete program of Racing Optics/Russell Baker Racing Engines Time Trials, Crown Spray Power Heats, O'Reilly Auto Parts B-Main, and the 60 lap, $7,000 to win Lucas Oil A-Main Kentucky Klassic. Also on the racing program will be a regular show for Modifieds, Pro Street, Pure Street, and Chevette divisions.

The Kentucky Klassic has seen a half-dozen DLM Hall of Famers visit victory lane, with only three repeat winners. Billy Moyer is the only three-time winner of the race, with Scott Bloomquist and Don Hobbs holding two Kentucky Klassic wins.

Barren County Speedway last raced on Sunday evening, August 22, with Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY winning the Modified feature, Larry Greer of Bowling Green, KY winning the Pro Street feature, Jimmy Lyon of Glasgow, KY winning the Pure Street feature, Scott Shelton of Cookeville, TN winning in Chevettes, and Mike Todd of Glasgow, KY winning in Frontrunners.

The event will also be double track points for all divisions with current division point leaders heading into the August 27 racing program being Victor Lee of Stanford, KY in Late Models, Butch Shay of Louisville, KY in Modifieds, Daryl Butler of Glasgow, KY in Pro Street, Jimmy Lyon of Glasgow, KY in Pure Street, and Bradley Matthews of Smith's Grove, KY in Chevettes.

Activities get underway for the 23rd Annual Kentucky Klassic with gates opening at 2:00, with hot laps set for 6:00, with time trials at 6:30. All times listed are CDT. This is a special event. Adult general admission will be $25, with children ages 6 to 12 $10, and children under age 6 free with a paid adult. Pit passes will be $35.
