[NARA] Farley and LaSalle Up Next for the Lucas Oil Late Model DirtSeries

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series pays its first ever visit to the upper Midwest this Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21. The weekend set of events first takes place on Friday Night at the Farley Speedway in Farley, IA before venturing southeast to the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, IL on Saturday Night. Both events will feature complete shows for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Oval Craft Racing Aluminum Designs Time Trials, VP Fuels Makin' Power Heat Races, Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and PPM Performance B-Mains and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series A-Main events paying $10,000 to win and $700 to start. To add to the excitement both events will be taped and broadcast on a date and time to be announced by ESPN2. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has 13 races scheduled for ESPN2 in 2005. ESPN2 is currently seen in 88 million homes nationwide.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series as it is now known is the former NARA DirtCar Series that began in 2004. The visits to Farley and LaSalle will be the 9th and 10th races on the '05 campaign. The series started the 2005 season in Florida at East Bay raceway Park with six events, followed by races at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway and the Brownstown (IN) Speedway.

Terry English of Benton, KY is the current point’s leader for the series having scored wins at East Bay and Brownstown. English was the 2002 $100,000 UMP Late Model National Points Champion. Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN currently rides second in points and he also has two Lucas Oil wins in '05 with both of those coming at East Bay. In 2004 O’Neal was the winningest Dirt Late Model driver in the nation with 26 main events victories and in '05 he already has seven overall. There is a tie for third in points between Matt Miller of Waterville, OH and Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV. Miller the 2000 Eldora (OH) Speedway Late Model track champion and the 2001 Renegade DirtCar Series Rookie of the Year is tied with Shaver, who is the defending $50,000 to win champion of the North-South 100 event at the Florence (KY) Speedway an event that is held each August. Sitting fifth in points is Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH a four time winner of the World 100 and the Eldora Million victor in 2001.

Other drivers currently in the top ten of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings include the 2004 Xtreme DirtCar Series Champion, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, leading Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year candidate, Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV, former Hav-A-Tampa Rookie of the Year, Dennis Erb, Jr. from Carpentersville, IL, the 2004 NARA DirtCar Series champion, Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL and the second leading Lucas Oil Rookie of the Year candidate, Scott James out of Lawrenceburg, IN.

Other drivers who have been at every event this season include the only five time winner of the Dirt Track World Championship Race and the owner of 782 career feature wins, Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN and two-time UMP national Champion and the second all-time winningest driver in the history of Brownstown (IN) Speedway, John Gill from Mitchell, IN.



The exciting action of the Lucas Oil late Model Dirt Series will kick off on Friday Night, May 20 at the "Palace of Speed" the Farley Speedway in Farley, IA with both the pit gate and grandstand gates opening at 5 p.m. with the driver's meeting to take place at 6:15 p.m. Hot lap sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m. Pit Admission is $35, while general admission adult tickets are priced at $25 per person. Seniors and students ages 13-20 can get into Farley Speedway on Friday Night for only $20 and $10 respectfully. Kids 12 and under will be admitted for free.



The side-by-side racing action will roll into the LaSalle Speedway the following evening, May 21. The gates will open at 5 p.m. with time trials slated to start at 6:30 p.m. The "Jeff's Enginemasters Spring Shootout" ticket prices are $35 for pit passes, sky box seats are priced at $30, adult general admission is $25 with kids 11 and under admitted for free.
