(2/17/09) -- KID-ROCKET leads the charge... STILL, as teams leave FLORIDA; Richards JOINS the SHORT LIST of competitors that have lead the National RANKINGS tallying system, since its CONCEPTION in 2007... The KENTUCKY COLONEL waves the finale flag to a $10,000. World of Outlaw Late Model series VICTORY. So far 20 racers have been ranked and will DETAIL the LIST... that and much more in this the National RANKINGS "FLORIDA's EXIT POLES" Report # 090217.

Josh Richards had only 6-WINS in the National RANKINGS Top 5 standings in the whole 2008 season. Leaving Florida this season already (get this!) 4-WINS in National RANKINGS (7,000. to-WIN or higher paying races) competition. What's all this mean to # 1 "Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB Motorsports" sponsored Rocket / Cornett powered, Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS and # 25 "Ernie D's Enterprises, Tim Fraker Signs" sponsored Rocket / Cornett, Monte Carlo driver? Well, not to count chickens or anything, but in 2008 MR. SMOOTH left Florida en route to the season National RANKINGS title.

The # 2 man in the National RANKINGS, is NOT whom everybody thinks... Leaving Florida with 3 runner-up finishes and 1 third place nod is the reigning WoOLM series champion Darrell Lanigan. Lani-leads both # 1 and # 2 nationally ranked racers of 2008; Moyer and Scott Bloomquist respectfully, whom are currently tied for 3rd. BLACK SUNSHINE has the razor's edge, with a WIN already coming during the 2009 National RANKINGS Opener at Golden Isle Speedway, worth $7,500. Other Top 5 finishes came to Bloomquist in the form of 2 third place finishes.

Fifth in the National RANKINGS is knotted up between Earl Pearson Jr. and Steve Francis. On Saturday's finale at Volusia County Speedway Park, the KY COLONEL rallied to victory, tying the HURRICANE's mark at 1-WIN, a 4th and 5th place nod so far this season. Behind them is Rick Eckers in 7th in the National RANKINGS standings. SCRUBB nearly pulled off a victory worth $10,000. on Friday, but his view was skewwed by Richards black n' blue spoiler.

Ranked 8th exiting Florida is the WILDMAN himself Dan Schleiper. The Wisconsin native collected a victory and a fifth place nod, to place just ahead of the # 9 and # 10 ranked YANKEES racers. Dennis Erb Jr. (the reigning Northern RANKINGS Champion) won the highest paying event of the season so far, the $12,000. to-WIN East Bay Raceway finale. Two nights later and fellow Northern RANKINGS competitor Darren Miller THRILLED his fans taking the VCSP opener. Weather or not the two Northern based racers race National RANKINGS guidelines races will again determine their later status in either (NOT both) Top 5 rankings.

Eleventh thru twentieth looks like this... Matt Miller corralled 3; third place nods and leads Brady Smith who collected a 2nd and a 4th place. John Blankenship and the NEWPORT NIGHTMARE Jimmy Owens (a former points leader) have single runner-up finishes and hold a tie for 13th place in the National RANKINGS. Reigning WORLD 100 Champ Shane Clanton has a pair of Top 5's (a 3rd & a 5th) so far this season and is 15th overall. Leading the final set of 5 in the Top 20 at 16th is Shannon Babb, whom briefly (only 1 week) took the National RANKINGS lead from Bloomquist back in 2007.

Behind the BABBSTER is Tim Fuller, Wendell Wallace and Scott James which are all tied for 17th in the National RANKINGS. And ridin' shot-gun on this 20-car field for Top 5 standings is Clint Smith, the 2007 BAMA BASH winner, which is fitting as this years event is this weekends only National RANKINGS rated race in Alabama. All 2009 National RANKINGS cover any dirt SLM event paying the minimum of $7,000. to-WIN anywhere in the US and Canada.
