how can you make a 1/4 midget faster ? have a new fast lane 120 motor, new hoosier tires, advanced racing shocks, 2.9lb rear axle, and my kid gets his butt handed to him, how can these cars be so different in speed? what can i do to make it faster? we run taylorville and lincoln.

Jr. Novice - it's a swing arm bullrider, i see you guys are very accomplished - i'm just starting out, we had our training at taylorville and ran a 5-7split , but then we could go all the way up to a 10 split???? we ran lincoln last week actual first race - and started with a 5 split, then a 1 split, then told to put on a 30 engine and a 32 axle and we went nowhere fast. i just don't understand these things. anyhelp would be greatful. please pm me

When just starting out, being competitive right off the bat can be tough.
Patience and plenty of notes are important.
More speed is gained thru driver refinement (seat time and line) than just about anything else.
Does your driver "run a good line"? Trying a bunch of different chassis setups are useless unless your driver can run an fairly consistent and good line.
Tips from your Novice Trainer and fellow club members are very valuable also.
Do you have a tach on your car? What rpm are you shooting for? Does your car go thru the turns without much steering input from your driver?
There are many things that factor into a car/driver being competitive.
E-mail me at rgnslvs@charter.net and I'll try to help you with your questions.
