CARTERSVILLE, GA – It’s the Kevin and Kevin Show at the top of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies point standings after Week 2 competition. Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS and Kevin Spears of Fayette, AR each have 94 points to share the point lead.
Whittington drove the Ergon, Inc. Chevrolet to a Week 1 win, and followed that up with a seventh-place finish on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Spears finished second at The Mag on Saturday night driving the Spears Racing Chevrolet after a sixth-place finish in Week 1 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock action.
Richie Stephens of Salem, AL drove the Rocketman Race Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to his second straight NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock win on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL to move into a tie for the third spot in the standings with Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS.
Stephens and Leftwich each have 90 points. Stephens’ Week 1 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock victory was a 40-point win with a car count of less than eight. Leftwich had a Week 1 second-place finish and a 21st-place finish on Saturday night at The Mag driving the Leftwich Racing Chevrolet.
Rick Leverette of Meridian, MS and Mike Lane of Pace, FL are tied for the fifth spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock standings with 89 points apiece. Leverette finished 11th on Saturday night at The Mag in the Leverette Racing Chevrolet after a Week 1 third-place finish. Lane drove the Lane’s Vinyl Siding Chevrolet to a second-place finish on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway.
Doug Lea of Milton, FL is seventh in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock standings with 84 points after a fourth-place finish on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway driving the L&L Construction Services Chevrolet. David Windham of Florala, AL is eighth with 83 points after driving the Florala Pharmacy Chevrolet to a seventh-place finish on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway.
Scooter Ware of Meridian, MS in the Ware Racing Chevrolet and Jimmy Anderson of Meridian, MS in the Anderson Racing Chevrolet are tied for the ninth spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies standings with 82 points apiece.
In other NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 2 action, Mark Barnett of Columbus, MS drove the Barnett Racing Chevrolet to the win on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Darren Fox of Poplar Bluff, MO grabbed a 40-point win on Saturday night at Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, MO driving the Fox Racing Chevrolet.
Tyler Hurst of Lineville, AL took a 40-point NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the DSC Heating and Air Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.
Five Week 2 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock events were rained out beginning on Friday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Saturday night NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock rain outs were at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, Smokey Harris Speedway in Haleburg, AL, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA.
