CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies and the Mississippi Street Stock Series will co-sanction a pair of $1,000-to-win $100-to-start races this weekend with points awarded for both series. Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will host the Friday night race and the Saturday night race will be at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA.

Both races will be a part of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 16 action that will see seven races in five states. Just five points separate point leader David Windham of Florala, AL and second-place Mike Lane of Pace, FL, as both drivers have now reached the 14 week mark of their respective seasons and are trying to net points on their 14 week totals.

Along with the Friday night Hattiesburg Speedway race and the Saturday night St. Tammany Raceway event, the other five races on the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 16 schedule will take place on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, MO, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Windham leads the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 628 points and a five-point lead over Lane, who has a best 14 week total of 623 points. Windham has the fifth highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings with a 44.85 out of a possible 50.

Windham will be trying to net on a 39, which is the lowest weekly point total among his best 14. A 50-point win would net Windham 11 points, and bring his season total up to 639. Lane has the seventh highest WPA at 44.5 and he will be trying to net on a 36. A 50-point win with a car count of eight or better would net 14 points bring Lane’s season point total to 637.

Both Windham and Lane will have their eye on the progress of Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS, who is third in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 616 points. Idom has the second highest WPA at 47.39, and he still has one more week to earn full points before reaching the 14 week mark of his season.

All Idom really has to do to take over the point lead is start a race with a car count of eight or more which would give him at least 41 points. That would give Idom 657 points and put him on top of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings.

Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS is fourth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 580 points, and he also has one more week to earn full points. Leftwich has the sixth highest WPA at 44.61 and a 50-point win would bring his season total to 630 points and draw him into the same neighborhood with Windham and Lane.

Dean Shaw of Defuniak Springs, FL is fifth in the standings with 532 points, and he has two more weeks to earn full points. A pair of 50-point wins in his next two weeks of NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division competition, and Shaw is right in there with 632 points. Shaw has the ninth highest WPA at 44.33.

Larry Faulk of Pace, FL is sixth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 531 points and one more week to earn full points and reach the 14 week mark of his season. Phillip Haynes of Anniston, AL is seventh in the standings with 517 points and he also has one more week to earn full points before beginning to net on his best 14 weekly point totals.

Garrett McDonald of Pace, FL is eighth in the standings with 489 points and he has the eighth highest WPA at 44.45. McDonald has three more weeks to earn full points, which gives him the potential to have 639 points with three 50-point wins in each of the next three weeks of NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division competition.

Branden Harris of Molino, FL is ninth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 484 points, and he also has three more weeks to earn full points. Harris has the tenth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 44.

Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS is a NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Championship contender, even though he is tenth in the standings with 472 points. Whittington has the second highest WPA at 47.2 and four more weeks to earn full points. A 50-point win in each of his next four weeks of racing gives him the potential to accumulate 672 points.

There are two drivers outside the Top 10 of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings to keep your eye on in the coming weeks, as they have two of the top four scores on the WPA list.

The defending NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Champion Trey Bright of Coker, AL has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point standings at 48.56. Bright is 13[sup]th[/sup] in the standings with 437 points, but he still has five more weeks to earn full points, and the potential to rack up 687 points.

Tyler Hurst of Lineville, AL had his “Coming Out Party” over the July 4[sup]th[/sup] Holiday Weekend, having run four races over four days at four different tracks. He posted his ninth win of the season last Thursday night at his home track, Talladega Short Track, but then over the next three nights ventured to three NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division tracks he had never seen before.

Hurst finished fourth on Friday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, third on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and second on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Hurst is now 15[sup]th[/sup] in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 409 points. He has the fourth highest WPA at 45.44, and five more weeks to earn full points.

Drivers that race at NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals during the 27-week season that runs through September 28. The 2014 NeSmith/AR Bodies National Champion will pocket $2,000 and the National point fund pays back to the Top 10 drivers at the end of the season.
