CARTERSVILLE, GA – After Week 6 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies competition, Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS remains the point leader. Leftwich drove the STR Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to a fifth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.

Leftwich leads the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Championship battle with 273 points after four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in six races. Leftwich holds a 13-point over Clint Vaughn of Odenville, AL. Vaughn finished fourth on Friday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL to bring his season total up to 260 points.

Vaughn has six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven races driving the Vinson Race Engines Chevrolet. Vaughn’s race car is also powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

Mike Lane of Pace, FL and David Windham of Florala, AL are tied for the third spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 250 points apiece. Lane has three wins, six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in seven races, while Windham has two top five finishes and five top ten finishes in six races.

Lane drove the Lane’s Vinyl Siding Chevrolet to a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Smokey Harris Speedway in Haleburg, AL, and Windham finished seventh on Saturday night at Smokey Harris Speedway in the Florala Pharmacy Chevrolet.

Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS took his fourth NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway driving the Performance Bodies “throwback” 1957 Chevrolet. Idom is fifth in the standings with 238 points after four wins and six top five finishes in six starts.

Phillip Haynes of Anniston, AL is sixth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 230 points after five top five finishes in seven races driving the Jeff Owens & Associates Chevrolet. Haynes best finish of the weekend was a fourth-place effort on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Tyler Hurst of Lineville, AL is the hottest driver in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division, as he drove the NSC Heating and Air Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to a pair of wins on Friday night and Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. That brought Hurst’s season win total to a series-leading five, all at Talladega Short Track.

Hurst is seventh in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 229 points after five wins and six top five finishes in six starts. In the only race that Hurst that did not win, he finished second.

The thing that is keeping Hurst from being higher up in the standings is that two of Hurst’s wins were 40-point wins against car counts under eight, and only one of the two Week 6 wins counted in his point total. Drivers can only count their best finish of the week in their season point total.

Eddie Brannon of Anniston, AL is eighth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies standings with 214 points after five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in six races driving the Brannon Auto Chevrolet. Brannon’s best finish of the weekend was a second-place effort on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

Dean Shaw of Defuniak Springs, FL drove the Shaw Racing Chevrolet to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Smokey Harris Speedway to bring his point total to 213 and the ninth spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock standings. For the season, Shaw has one win and four top five finishes in five races.

Scooter Ware of West Point, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 205 points. Ware has one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in six races driving the Peay’s Auto Salvage Chevrolet.

In other NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 6 action, Stacy Herron of Kiln, MS drove the S&B Contracting Chevrolet to victory on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. Brian Hansford of Altha, FL took the win on Saturday night at Smokey Harris Speedway driving the Outlaw Race Parts Chevrolet.
