CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 9 of the 2014 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies season will see seven races in four states with one race on Friday night, five races on Saturday night, and one race on Sunday night. Three drivers have competed in the first eight weeks of competition, and they are at the top of the point standings.
The lone Friday night NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 9 race is scheduled for Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.
Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will present a $1,000-to-win NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division race that will highlight Week 9 Saturday night competition. Also in action on Saturday night will be Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will host a Week 9 NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division race on Sunday night. Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will open NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 10 competition with a special Monday night race.
Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS leads the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 355 points and the fifth highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the Top 20 drivers in the standings with 44.37 out of a possible 50. Leftwich holds a 16 point lead over David Windham of Florala, AL, who has 339 points.
Scooter Ware of West Point, MS is third in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 333 points, and Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS has accumulated 331 points in seven weeks of competition and has the second highest WPA at 47.29. Dean Shaw of Defuniak Springs, FL is fifth in the standings with 304 points, and Mike Lane of Pace, FL is sixth with 300 points.
Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS is seventh in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 285 points, but he has competed in six of the eight weeks. Whittington has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers at 47.5. Brandon Harris of Molina, FL is eighth with 275 points over six weeks of racing and has the third highest WPA at 45.83.
Phillip Haynes of Anniston, AL is ninth with 269 points and Michael Williams of Saucier, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 263 points. Tyler Hurst of Lineville, AL is 13[sup]th[/sup] in the standings with 229 points, but those points were earned in five weeks of competition that give him the fourth highest WPA among the Top 20 at 45.8.
Drivers that race at NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals during the 27-week season that runs through September 28. The 2014 NeSmith/AR Bodies National Champion will pocket $2,000 and the National point fund pays back to the Top 10 drivers at the end of the season.
