NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 9 Round Up

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Some familiar faces returned to the winner’s circle in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Presented By AR Bodies Week 9 action, while there was not much movement in the Top 10 of the point standings. Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS still sits on top of the standings with 402 points.

Leftwich drove the STR Race Cars Chevrolet to a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS and now has five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in nine races over nine weeks. Leftwich now holds a 17-point lead in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings over David Windham of Florala, AL.

Windham drove the Florala Pharmacy Chevrolet to a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL to bring his NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division point total up to 385 after four top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in nine races over nine weeks.

Scooter Ware of West Point, MS is third in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 382 points after three wins, six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in ten races over nine weeks. Ware drove the Peay’s Auto Salvage Chevrolet to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Jeremy Idom of Hattiesburg, MS picked up his sixth NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Performance Bodies “Throwback” 1957 Chevrolet. After competing in eight of the first nine weeks of the season, Idom is fourth in the standings with 371 points after six wins, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 11 races.

Mike Lane of Pace, FL notched his fifth NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway driving the Lane’s Vinyl Siding Chevrolet. Lane is fifth in the standings with 350 points after five wins, eight top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in nine races over eight weeks.

Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS holds the sixth spot in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 330 points after four wins, five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races over seven weeks. Whittington finished sixth on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Ergon, Inc. Chevrolet.

Branden Harris of Molina, FL is seventh in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 323 points after one win and six top five finishes in seven races over seven weeks. Harris drove the Coastal Engine and Machine Chevrolet to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Southern Raceway.

Phillip Haynes of Anniston, AL finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Jeff Owens & Associates Chevrolet. Haynes is eighth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 308 points after seven top five finishes in nine races over eight weeks.

Dean Shaw of Defuniak Springs, FL is ninth in the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings with 304 points after one win, five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races over seven weeks driving the Shaw Racing Chevrolet. Shaw did not compete in Week 9 action.

Michael Williams of Saucier, MS rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division standings after Week 9 competition with 302 points after four top five finishes and six top ten finishes in eight races over seven weeks. Williams drove the Williams Race Cars Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to a second-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.

In other NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division Week 9 action, it was a good weekend for the $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine that powered the cars of three different winners.

Jeremy Flurry of Smithville, MS drove the Auto Finance Cars Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to victory in his first NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock race of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Clint Vaughn of Odenville, AL took his first NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Vinson Race Engines Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet 602 Circle Track Engine.

The defending NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division National Champion Trey Bright of Coker, AL drove the AR Bodies Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine to victory on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS did not report the results of their $1,000-to-win race on Saturday night.

A total of 178 drivers have earned points in the first nine weeks of NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division competition.
