CARTERSVILLE, GA – The 2009 Rules and Regulations for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour and the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are now posted on the series web site at www.nesmithracing.com. The only major changes from 2008 will involve the tire rule and the restart procedure on the National Tour.

The new rules will be in effect for the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour season opener this Saturday and Sunday at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL as a part of the 18th Annual Ice Bowl.

The NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS tire rule for 2009 will be the Hoosier D21 and Hoosier D55 stamped “Crate Racin’ USA.” The only exception will be for the first two National Touring events of 2009 at Talladega Short Track this weekend, and at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on January 24 where the Hoosier D21 and Hoosier D55 stamped “Crate” will also be allowed.

The Hoosier D21 and Hoosier D55 stamped “Spec” will no longer be permitted at any NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series events in 2009.

There will be a new restart procedure at all 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events with “Delaware-Style” double-file restarts, where the leader starts in a row by himself, and the second-place car will choose the inside or outside groove for the restart, with the third-place car and the rest of the field lining up double-file accordingly for the restart.

NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials have announced the first five events of the 2009 National Touring schedule that will be run within the next two months. In addition to the Talladega Short Track and Columbus Speedway events, East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL will host Rounds three, four and five on February 19, 20, and 21.

Series officials are in the process of finalizing the remainder of the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring schedule, and will release it after this weekend’s TST event. The 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will begin on April 3 through October 4. Several new NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks in new areas of the country will be joining the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS for 2009.
