NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS ANNOUNCES SPECIAL ICEBOWL FORMAT AND 2008 RULES

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will open its 2008 season this Saturday and Sunday with the 50-lap $3,000-to-win Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and the series formerly known as the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model has also released it 2008 rule book on its new web site at www.nesmithracing.com.

The two-day Ice Bowl format for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will start with front row qualifying on Saturday afternoon in which the top two qualifiers will earn the front row starting spots for the 50-lap main event on Sunday afternoon.

Qualifiers three through field will then line-up for six heat races on Saturday afternoon in which the top two finishers transfer to the main event on Sunday afternoon. The third-place finishers on back in the heat races on Saturday afternoon will return on Sunday afternoon to compete in one of four B-Main races in which the top two finishers will transfer to the main event.

Starting positions 23 and 24 for the Sunday afternoon main event will be NeSmith Chevrolet Provisional Starting Spots reserved for the Top 15 drivers in the 2007 point standings that fail to transfer to the main event through qualifying, heat races, or the B-Mains. Talladega Short Track officials may also start a non-points earning Track Provisional in the 25th starting spot.

Talladega Short Track will host a pair of open practice sessions on Thursday afternoon from 12 noon until 5 p.m., and on Friday afternoon from 12 noon until 4 p.m. The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Registration and Tech Line will be open on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and then reopen on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.

All drivers must purchase their annual $100 Membership, and pay the $100 entry fee during registration. A driver’s car will not be teched until they complete the registration process. The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series rules are now available on the series web site at www.nesmithracing.com. The only two major changes involves the carburetor spacer for the GM Performance 602 Crate Engine, and a new tire rule that will go into effect on May 1, 2008, as the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS will be getting their own Hoosier branded D21 and D55 tires.
