NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS OPEN 2010 SEASON AT WHYNOT MOTORSPORTS PARK ON JANUARY 15-16

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will open the 2010 season on January 14-16 with the $3,000-to-win 50-lap Winter Bash at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. The series also has announced the first five events of the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour through the month of February.

The season opening Winter Bash at Whynot Motorsports Park will begin with a practice session on Thursday night, January 14 with gates opening at 4 p.m. and practice from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday night, January 15, the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour will compete in Qualifying and Heat Races to set the front of the starting field for the main event.

On Saturday night, January 16, the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour will compete in B-Main Races and the $3,000-to-win 50-lap Winter Bash main event, the first points race of the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour.

The 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS will be ready to begin the defense of his title at the WMP Winter Bash. Larry Boutwell of Baker, FL will be looking to get a good start in search of his first series title after finishing second in the points chase the last two seasons.

The 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Rookie of the Year Ben McCreary of Baldwyn, MS will be looking to repeat the trick Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA performed during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Brindle won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2007, and followed that up with the National Championship in 2008.

Several other 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Top 10 drivers are looking for the big prize in 2010. They include Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, GA, Chase Washington of Houlka, MS, two-time NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Champion David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN, Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS, Mike Boland of Cuba, AL, and Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL.

After the Winter Bash at Whynot Motorsports Park, the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour will travel to Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS for the second round of the 2010 season with the $2,500-to-win 40-lap 10th Annual Winter Classic on January 23.

Rounds three, four, and five of the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS National Tour will take place at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL on February 18, 19, and 20. Rounds three and four will be a pair of 40-lap $2,500-to-win races on February 18 and February 19 respectively. The EBRP Winternationals finale for the series will be a $3,000-to-win 50-lap event on February 20.

The remainder of the 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring schedule will be announced next week.
