NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JULY 6

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Four of the top six drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings picked up wins during Week 14 of the 2009 season. Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS extended his West Region point lead with his sixth win of season.

Keeton drove the Boland Performance Trak-Star to victory on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Keeton now has 764 points based on his best 16 finishes in 19 starts with six wins, 16 top five finishes, and 17 top ten finishes.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is second in the West Region standings with 730 points based on his best 16 finishes in 22 starts with seven wins, 16 top fives and 21 top tens. Arnold finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS in the Reynolds Racing Trak-Star, but did not start the main event on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 716 points based on his best 16 finishes in 21 starts driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT. Lee has four wins, 18 top fives, and 20 top tens.

Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA took his fifth West Region win of the season on Saturday night at South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport, MS driving the Barber’s Hardware Mastersbilt. Barber is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 705 points based on his best 16 finishes in 18 starts after five wins, 11 top fives, and 17 top tens.

Tracy Brown of Lumberton, MS grabbed his second NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Triple R Painting Rocket. Brown is fifth in the West Region standings with 703 points based on his best 16 finishes in 20 starts after two wins, 17 top fives, and 18 top tens.

NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring point leader Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS won his fifth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region event of the season on Friday night at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS driving the 78 Towing and Recovery Victory Circle.

Cooley remains a West Region title contender from the sixth spot with 575 points in just 12 starts. Cooley can still earn full points in four more races. Cooley has five wins, 11 top fives and 12 top ten finishes.

Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 574 points based on his best 16 finishes in 17 starts after two top fives and 15 top tens in the D&J Development GRT. Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS is eighth with 533 points after five top fives, and 12 top tens in 14 starts driving the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS is ninth in the West Region standings with 523 points based on six wins, and ten top five finishes in 12 starts driving the Ware Construction Trak-Star. Chase Washington of Houlka, MS used two top five finishes over the weekend in the Jerry Inmon Race Cars GRT to move up to the tenth spot in the West Region standings with 470 points after six top fives and nine top tens in 11 starts.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action during Week 14, Shawn Edwards of Louisville, MS drove the Montgomery Farms Trak-Star to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS posted his second straight NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region win on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the Lawson Construction Rocket. West Region action at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on Sunday night was rained out.

Jacob Grizzle of Blairsville, GA won the only NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region event of the weekend on Saturday night at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC. It was Grizzle’s fourth win of the season in the Rick’s Rentals Mastersbilt.

Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL leads the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 714 points in 15 starts driving the All-Star Graphics Warrior to hold a 118-point lead over Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL, who has 596 points in 13 starts driving The Racing Zone GRT. Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is third with 591 points based on his best 16 finishes in 18 starts in the Gar’s Cash Flow Mastersbilt.

Jacob Anderson of Murphy, NC and Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN, the fourth and fifth-place East Region drivers respectively, were the only East Region top ten drivers to compete during Week 14 of the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS season.

Anderson finished second to Grizzle at Tri-County Race Track, and now has 569 points with three wins, 13 top fives, and 14 top tens in 15 starts driving the Jacob Anderson Company GRT. Deal used a top ten finish to bring his point total up to 566 with two wins, 14 top fives, and 15 top tens in 15 starts driving the Cougar Fireworks GRT.

Dana Eiland of Salem, AL is sixth in the East Region standings with 555 points in 13 starts in the Andy’s Auto Parts GRT, and Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL is seventh with 520 points in 14 starts driving the Tri City Machine Works GRT. Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL is eighth with 502 points in 11 starts driving the Clarence’s Truck Repair GRT, and Marc Gooden of Lafayette, AL is ninth with 479 points in 12 starts driving the RPI GRT.

Josh Henry of Newport, TN rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 477 points in 12 starts driving the Henry Trucking TNT. East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL will open NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Series Week 15 East Region action on Tuesday night.

Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL had two wins during Week 14 thanks to Keeton and Edwards and continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge point standings with 30 wins.

Mastersbilt Race Cars of Caruthersville, IN had two wins during Week 14 by Barber and Grizzle, and moved back into the second spot with 18 wins. Defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is third with 17 wins, followed by TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN with five wins, and C.J. Rayburn Race Cars of Whiteland, IN with one win.
