NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JUNE 8

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 10 of the 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series saw 13 different winners in 13 events in the seven West Region races and six East Region Races with four first time winners.

Travis Ashley of Batesville, AR drove the Larry Shaw Race Cars GRT to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR. Jeff Landrum of Lanett, AL was a first time winner in the East Region with a win on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Mitcham Auto Parts Scorpion.

Hunter Best of Greenback, TN took his first NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region win of the season on Saturday night at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN driving the Robin Myrick Realty Executives Warrior, and Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL drove The Ride 95.3 Scorpion to his first East Region win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 641 points based on six wins, 12 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 15 starts. The 18-year-old Young Gun has a 55-point lead over second-place Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS who has 586 points with three wins, 12 top fives, and 13 top tens in 14 starts.

Lee picked up his third win of the season on Saturday night at South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT to move up to the second spot in the West Region standings. Tracy Brown of Lumberton, MS is third with 577 points based on one win, 11 top fives, and 14 top tens in 14 starts.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS grabbed his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star. Keeton has 564 points with four wins and 11 top fives in 12 starts.

Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA is fifth in the West Region standings with 522 points based on three wins, eight top fives and 11 top tens in 12 starts driving the Barber’s Hardware Mastersbilt. Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS is sixth with 447 points after turning in five top fives and ten top tens in 12 starts in the Stockstill Trucking Trak-Star.

Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is the third member of the “Lumberton Legion” in the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings, holding down the seventh spot at 420 points with two top fives and ten top ten finishes in 12 starts wheeling the D&J Development GRT.

Jimmy Howell of Laurel, MS in the Greg’s High Performance GRT is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 408 points based on one top five finish and 11 top ten showings in 12 starts.

Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS, the 18-year-old NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring point leader, is also ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 395 points based on two wins, seven top fives, and eight top tens in just eight starts in the 78 Towing and Recover Victory Circle.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS picked up his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Ware Construction Trak-Star. Williams moved up to tenth in the West Region standings with four wins and six top five finishes in eight starts.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action on Saturday night, Evan Ellis of Plantsville, MS drove the Ellis Certified Welders Trak-Star to his second win of the season at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.

Richard Guidry of Port Allen, LA captured his second win of the season at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the Tony’s Custom Carburetors Barry Wright, and Randall Beckwith of Kilmichael, MS drove the Hi Grade Farm Supply Rocket to his fourth win of the season Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS.

The top NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region drivers will be taking on the top National Touring drivers from eight states this weekend in a Mississippi Triple Header. Hattiesburg Motorsports Park will host the $2,000-to-win Fabgrill 40 this Friday night, and then it’s a 50-lap $2,500-to-win main event on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway. Magnolia Motor Speedway will present the finale on Sunday night with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win main event.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region point leader Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL kept his steak of top two finishes alive on Saturday night with a second-place finish at East Alabama Motor Speedway in the All-Star Graphics Warrior. Knowles has 494 points with seven wins and three second-place finishes in ten starts.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL had his worst finish of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway, albeit a sixth-place effort in The Racing Zone GRT. Dudley remains in the second spot of the East Region standings with nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in ten starts.

Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN took his second NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region win of the season on Friday night at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, GA, and followed that up with a second-place finish on Saturday night at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC to move up to the third spot in the East Region standings.

Deal now has 419 points with two wins, and 11 top five finishes in 11 starts driving the Cougar Fireworks GRT. Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is fourth with 381 points based on one top five and seven top ten finishes in 11 starts in the Gar’s Cash Flow Mastersbilt.

Jacob Anderson of Murphy, NC is fifth with 380 points after two wins, and nine top fives in 10 starts driving the Jacob Anderson Company GRT. Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL holds down the sixth spot in the East Region standings with 370 points based on one win, and seven top fives in eight starts.

Josh Henry of Newport, TN is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 356 points based on three wins, eight top fives and nine top tens in nine starts driving the Henry Trucking TNT. Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL is eighth driving the Tri-City Machine Works GRT with 342 points based on one top five and eight top ten finishes in nine starts.

Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL posted a second-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Millennium Mechanical Mastersbilt to move back into the East Region top ten with 340 points based on six top fives in eight starts to settle into the ninth spot.

Marc Gooden of Lafayette, AL rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 325 points based on four top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in eight starts driving the RPI GRT.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region action on Saturday night, the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Adam Martin of Talladega, AL picked up his third win of the season at Talladega Short Track in the Martin Racing Barry Wright, and Brian Kinnersley of Blairsville, GA drove the Arrant Spreader Service Mastersbilt to his fifth win of the season at Tri-County Race Track.

Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance in Cuba, AL picked three more wins over the weekend and continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge point standings with 20 total wins. With one win over the weekend, Mastersbilt Race Cars of Caruthersville, IN remains in second with 13 total win.

Three wins over the weekend by the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR moved them up to the third spot with 11 total wins.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN had one win over the weekend to bring their fourth-place win total to 10. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is fifth with four total wins on the season after the tenth week of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.
