NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR MAY 11

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA had a big weekend with two victories during Week 6 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series. Barber drove the Barber’s Hardware Mastersbilt to West Region wins on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS and on Saturday night at South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport, MS.

Tracy Brown of Lumberton, MS in the Triple R Painting Rocket took over the point lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region by one point over 18-year-old Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS in the Arnold Racing Trak-Star.

Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL picked up his seventh win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL in the All-Star Graphics Warrior, and continues to lead the Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region by 24 points over Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL in The Racing Zone GRT.

Brown has 377 points to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing West Region standings with one win, eight top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in nine starts. Arnold has 376 points with two wins, six top fives, and nine top tens in nine starts.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third in the West Region standings with 360 points based on two wins, seven top fives, and eight top tens in nine starts driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT. Another member of the “Lumberton Legion,” Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is fourth at 319 points with two top fives and eight top tens in nine starts.

Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS in the Stockstill Trucking Mastersbilt is fifth in the West Region standings with 303 points based on four top fives, and seven top tens in eight starts. Two-time West Region champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is sixth with 296 points based on two wins, and five top fives in six starts.

Barber’s two wins over the weekend brings his victory total up to three along with five top fives and six top tens in six starts, and moved him up to the seventh spot in the West Region standings with 294 points.

Jimmy Howell of Laurel, MS in the Greg’s High Performance GRT is eighth with 272 points based on one top five and seven top tens in eight starts, and Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is ninth with 249 points based on two top fives and seven top tens in seven starts. Rodney Barber of Saucier, MS rounds out the top ten in the West Region with 210 points based on two top fives and four top tens in six starts driving the Southern Construction Larry Shaw.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet West Region action on Saturday night, Cliff Williams of Star, MS drove the Ware Construction Trak-Star to his second win of the season at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and Jay Blair of Angie, LA was the winner at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the J&A Trucking Mastersbilt.

Rain washed out the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region events on Saturday night at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS, Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Whynot Motorsports Park will run two NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Series feature races this Saturday night.

Knowles has 426 points to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with seven wins in nine starts. Knowles finish second on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, his second runner-up finish of the season. Dudley has 402 points based on nine top five finishes in nine starts.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 311 points based on one top five finish, and seven top ten finishes in ten starts driving the Gar’s Cash Flow Mastersbilt.

Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL was the winner at East Alabama Motor Speedway in The Racing Zone GRT, and moved up to the fourth spot in the East Region standings with 320 points based on his win along with seven top five finishes in seven starts. Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL is fifth in the Tri-City Machine Works GRT with 286 points based on one top five and seven top tens in eight starts.

Marc Gooden of Lafayette, AL driving the RPI GRT is sixth in the East Region standings with 268 points based on three top fives, and six top tens in seven starts. Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN is seventh with 264 points based on one win, and seven top fives in seven starts driving the Cougar Fireworks GRT.

Jacob Anderson of Murphy, NC drove the Jacob Anderson Company GRT to his second win of the season, and his sixth top five finish in six starts, on Saturday night at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC. Anderson holds down the eighth spot in the East Region standings with 242 points.

Josh Henry of Newport, TN is ninth in the East Region standings with 237 points based on one win, five top fives and six top tens in six starts driving the Henry Trucking TNT. Randy Hester of Columbus, GA rounds out the top ten in the East Region standings with 223 points based on one top five, and three top tens in seven starts driving the Fox Appliance Parts GRT.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region action, Brian Kinnersley of Blairsville, GA took his fourth win, and fifth top five finish in five starts, on Friday night at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, GA. Rain washed out East Region events on Saturday night at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. TST will run a pair of East Region events this Saturday night.

Williams’ win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway gave Trak-Star Race Cars, built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL, its 11th NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season to remain on top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge point standings.

Barber’s two wins along with victories by Blair and Kinnersley moved Mastersbilt Race Cars of Caruthersville, IN up to the second spot with 10 wins on the season. Knowles owns seven of Warrior Race Cars, built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN, eight wins on the season to hold down the third spot.

Anderson and Nowell gave defending and two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR its sixth and seventh wins of the season, and the fourth spot in the point standings. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is fifth with three wins on the season.
