NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR May 25, 2009

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Josh Henry of Newport, TN drove the Henry Trucking TNT to his second win of 2009 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night in East Region action at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN. “The Mountain” was fortunate enough to get their show in, as once again, Mother Nature prevailed during Week 8 of the WRS season.

The victory moved Henry up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 277 points based on two wins, six top five finishes, and seven top ten finishes in seven starts. Steve Jones of Maryville, TN finished second in the Competition Racing Warrior.

Hunter Best of Greenback, TN took the third spot in the Robin Myrick Realty Executives Warrior. Best moved into the tenth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 228 points based on five top five finishes, and six top ten finishes in six starts.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region action on Friday night at Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, GA was rained out, along with Saturday night events at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC, and for the fourth week in-a-row at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Scott Knowles of Lanett, AL still leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 426 points driving the All-Star Graphics Warrior, and Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is second in The Racing Zone GRT with 402 points. Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL is third with 331 points in the Gar’s Cash Flow Mastersbilt.

Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL holds down the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 320 points in The Racing Zone GRT, and Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL is fifth with 286 points in the Tri-City Machine Works GRT. Marc Gooden of Lafayette, AL is seventh just behind Henry with 268 points in the RPI GRT.

Just in front of Best to round out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings are Jason Deal of Copperhill, TN in eighth with 264 points in the Cougar Fireworks GRT, and Jacob Anderson of Murphy, NC is ninth with 242 points in the Jacob Anderson Company GRT.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS extended his NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point lead with his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the Reynolds Racing Trak-Star. Arnold has 466 points with four wins, eight top five finishes, and 11 top ten finishes in 11 starts.

Eric Cooley of Fulton, MS drove his 78 Towing and Recovery Victory Circle to his second win of the season over a 27-car field on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Cooley moved up to the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 295 points based on two wins, five top fives, and six top tens in six starts.

Mother Nature was also prevalent in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region with Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS was rained out on Friday night, and Saturday night West Region events were rained out at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Tracy Brown of Lumberton, MS is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 421 points and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third with 408 points. Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS and Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA both has top five finishes in Week 8.

Keeton is fourth in the West Region standings with 380 points based on two wins, and seven top fives in eight starts driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star. Barber has turned in three wins, six top fives, and eight top tens in eight starts to hold down the fifth spot with 372 points in the Barber’s Hardware Mastersbilt.

Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS is sixth in the West Region standings with 339 points, and Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is seventh with 319 points. Jimmy Howell of Laurel, MS is eighth in the West Region standings with 306 points.

Chase Washington of Houlka, MS in the Jerry Inmon Race Cars GRT moved up to tenth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings behind Cooley with 251 points based on two top five and four top tens in six starts.
