CARTERSVILLE, GA – As Week 16 of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season unfolds this weekend, the top four drivers in the point standings will be netting points after reaching the 14 week mark of their respective seasons. Week 16 will feature 12 races in seven states with two $1,000-to-win races on the schedule of events.

There are three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events on tap for Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, and Salina Speedway in Salina, KS.

On Saturday night, there will be a pair of $1,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 16 races. A $1,000 will go to the winner on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will host the $1,000-to-win 45 Challenge Series Race on Saturday night.

Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL will present a $750-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 16 race co-sanctioned by the South Eastern Crate Series on Saturday night. Drivers will compete for points in both series.

Also presenting Week 16 Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races will be Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL, Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, MO, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL has a best 14 week total of 645 points and he will be trying to net on the lowest weekly total of that 14, a 25. If Gauldin can win a 50-point race, he will net 25 points and bring his season total up to 670 points.

Gauldin has the eighth highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standing at 46.67 out of a possible 50. Gauldin has a six-point lead over the second-place driver in the point standings, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS.

Lee has a best 14 week total of 639 points and he will also be trying to net on a 25 in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 16 competition. Lee has the tenth highest WPA at 45.64. A 50-point win would net Lee 25 points and bring his season total up to 664 points.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL has a best 14 week total of 637 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41. If the 12-year-old sensation can post a 50-point win, he would net nine points and bring his season total to 646. Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 587 and he will be trying to net on a 25.

The drivers from fifth on back in the Top 20 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings have between two to four weeks to earn full points and advance themselves up the points list.

Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 571 points and two more weeks to earn full points before he reaches the 14 week mark of his season. Bridgmon also has the fourth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the standings at 47.58.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is sixth in the standings with 566 points and two more weeks to earn full points. Daspit has the fifth highest WPA at 47.17 and is very much in the running for his second straight $10,000 National Championship.

Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 539 points. Combs, the nephew of National Dirt Hall of Fame Inductee Rodney Combs, still has two more weeks to earn full points.

Heath Minor of Ralph, AL is a title contender, even though he is currently eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 526 points. Minor still has three more weeks to earn full points, and he has the third highest WPA among the Top 20 in the point standings at 48.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 508 points and two more weeks to earn full points. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS rounds out the top ten in the standings with 500 points and two more weeks to earn full points.

In the coming weeks, there are five drivers in the second ten of the points standings that will be on the move upward, as evidenced by their respective WPAs.

Chris Holley of Dayton, TX currently sits in the 12[sup]th[/sup] spot of the points chase with 498 points. Holley has the number one WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings at 49.8. Holley has four more weeks to earn full points. In ten NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races this season, Holley has eight wins and two second-place finishes.

Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN is a championship player and is currently 16[sup]th[/sup] in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 483 points, but he has the second highest WPA at 48.3 and four more weeks to earn full points. Lee Burdett of Bessemer, AL is 17[sup]th[/sup] with 471 points, the sixth highest WPA at 47.1, and four more weeks to earn full points.

Ryan King of Seymour, TN is tied with Burdett for the 17[sup]th[/sup] spot in the standings with 471 points and the sixth highest WPA at 47.1. King also has four more weeks to earn full points, and he also holds the tie-breaker advantage over Burdett with three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series wins this season.

Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, TN is 19[sup]th[/sup] in the standings with 464 points, the ninth highest WPA at 46.4 and four more weeks to earn full points. There are still several drivers outside of the Top 20 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings that still have a shot at the $10,000 Championship with 12 weeks still left in the 2014 season.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 28.

The 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
