CARTERSVILLE, GA – Although only two of nine scheduled NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 17 races were run over the weekend, they created a shuffle among the Top 20 drivers in the point standings. Four drivers that did get to race made their first appearances in Top 20, as a total of seven Week 17 races were rained out.

Chris Holley of Dayton, TX drove the Land Bridge Transportation Special to his tenth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX and climbed into the sixth spot of the point standings.

Holley now has 598 points with two more weeks to earn full points. Holley also has the inside line on the 2014 $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship after ten wins and two second-place finishes in 12 races, all at Battleground Speedway. Holley needs four more 50-point wins to have a perfect 700 point season.

Darrick Klima of Belleville, KS took his fifth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model win of the 2014 season on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS driving the Mike’s Body Shop Special. That moved Klima into a three-way tie for the 19[sup]th[/sup] spot in the point standings with ten weeks left in the season.

Joining Klima as new residents of the Top 20 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings are Mike Davenport of Danbury, TX, Delbert Smith of Wichita, KS, and Jamie Green of Crosby, TX.

Smith settled into the 17[sup]th[/sup] spot in the standings after finishing second on Friday night at Salina Speedway.
