CARTERSVILLE, GA – The point lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings has changed hands for the first time since April 5, or Week 2, of the 2014 season. Chris Holley of Dayton, TX drove the Land Bridge Transportation Special to his 12[sup]th[/sup] win of the season on Saturday night at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX to take over the point lead in Week 19 action.

Holley’s win came on his last opportunity to earn full points and vaulted him from sixth-place to the top of the points list with 698 points. In 14 races, Holley has 12 wins and two second-place finishes. Holley will now try to net on those two 49-point second-place finishes by replacing them with 50-point wins. Holey is two 50-point wins away from a “Perfect Season” of 700 points.

While Holley has a 20-point lead on second-place in the standings, just ten points separate the second through fifth-place drivers in the standings. The current top six drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings recorded top two finishes in Week 19 competition.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL, who led the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings for 17 weeks, drove the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL to net four points.

That brought Gauldin’s best 14 week season total to 678 points after four wins, 14 top five finishes and 18 top ten finishes in 19 races. Gauldin fell to second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings, and now shares that spot with Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS.

Bridgmon picked up his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Robinson Electric Supply Special. Bridgmon was able to net nine points to bring his best 14 week total to 678 points. Bridgmon has four wins, 15 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 18 races.

If the season ended today, one would have to go deep in the tie-breaker protocol to see who would claim the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings.

Both Gauldin and Bridgmon each have four 50-point wins. Both Gauldin and Bridgmon each have three 49-point second-place finishes. The tie-breaker for Gauldin and Bridgmon would have to go to third-place finishes where Gauldin has the advantage with four to three for Bridgmon. Gauldin and Bridgmon will each be trying to net on 46s in their next race.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 670 points after four wins, 18 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes in 25 races. Lee drove the Billy Riels Racing GRT to a second-place finish in Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. Lee will try to net on a 43 in his next race.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway. Daspit is fifth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 668 points after six wins, 13 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 17 races. Daspit will try to net on a 42 in his next race.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL drove the Skinner’s Body Shop to his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, as the 12-year-old sensation brought his best 14 week total to 661 points and the sixth spot in the point standings. In 21 races, Skinner has four wins, ten top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes. Skinner will try to net on a 42 in his next race.

Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 634 points after one win, six top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 15 races. Combs finished fourth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track and will be trying to net on a 41 in his next race.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS used his last week to earn full points by driving the Cliff Williams Plumbing Trak-Star to a third-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to move into the eighth spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a 14 week total of 629 points after one win, 12 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 18 races. Williams will now try to net on a 25 in his next race.

Henry Pullen of Pittsboro, MS is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 627 points after seven top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 14 races. Pullen used his last week to earn full points by collecting 42 points after a ninth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Southern Chicks Special. Pullen will now try to net on a 41 in his next race.

There is a three-way tie for the tenth and final points fund paying spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings among Heath Minor of Ralph, AL, Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN, and Mike Davenport of Danbury, TX at 621 points apiece. Minor and Beeler each still have one more week to earn full points, while Davenport has reached the 14 week mark and will try to net on a 41.

Minor has the tie-breaker advantage with six wins, 11 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 14 races driving the Mike Minor’s Auto Repair Warrior. Beeler has three wins, 11 top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 races driving the Mighty Muffler & Brakes CVR. Davenport has four top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 14 races driving the Davenport Racing Special.

Minor did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 19 action, while Beeler finished fourth on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN. Davenport finished seventh on Saturday night at Battleground Speedway in his final race to earn full points and will now try to net on a 41.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 19 action, Delbert Smith of Wichita, KS drove the BSB Manufacturing Special to his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS took win number six of the season on Friday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the MP Trucking Special.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS extended his winning streak to four straight wins on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway driving The Strength Center Special with his sixth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season.

The streak came to a crashing end the next night at Whynot Motorsports Park when Arnold clipped a utility tire that marks in inside of the race track during a Heat Race, got the car up on its side about as far as you can get one without going over on its roof, and then had a hard landing on all four wheels. Arnold was O.K., but the race car was done for the night.

Palasini made it two for two on the weekend with his seventh NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season with a Saturday night Week 19 win at Greenville Speedway. Ryan King of Seymour, TN picked up his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger.

Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN drove the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Rocket to his fourth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN and clinched the 2014 Track Late Model Championship. Saturday night Week 19 action at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL was rained out.

Daspit gave three-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL their 25[sup]th[/sup] win of the season, as they continue to leads Chassis points.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV moved back into a tie for the second spot in the standings with four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champ GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR after Cooper gave Rocket their 19[sup]th[/sup] win of the season.

Warrior Race Car built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth in the standings with six wins, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN is fifth with four wins this season. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is also participating in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and is still looking for their first win of the season.
