CARTERSVILLE, GA – New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA will make the switch from an asphalt track to a dirt track in 2010, and the drivers in the late model division will race under the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series banner. They will be competing for both a track point fund, and a regional point fund.

The 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional season will run from April 2, 2010 through October 3, 2010. During this 27-week season, drivers may earn Regional points in up to 24 events with their top 16 finishes counting towards their season Regional point total.

New Senoia Raceway is making the switch from a 20-year reign as an asphalt track, and back to dirt under the ownership of Tim Moses, Tony Moses, and Jack Mills. It is a return to a clay surface on the 3/8-mile oval, as it was when the track first opened in the early 1970s. The track was paved in 1988. New Senoia Raceway will operate on a weekly basis in 2010 every Saturday night.

“We’re excited to be involved with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series, as we feel they help us reestablish New Senoia Raceway once again as a dirt track,” New Senoia Raceway Race Director Jack Mills said. “We know the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will work closely with us in the technical and public relations areas.”

NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials also announced the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will compete at New Senoia Raceway in 2010, with the third race of a Memorial Day Weekend Triple-Header on Sunday night, May 30.

The New Senoia Raceway event will be for 40-laps paying $2,000-to-win. Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will be in action on Friday night, May 28 with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win event, and East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL will host a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event on Saturday night, May 29.

Drivers at New Senoia Raceway will compete with drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks for Regional points. The top ten drivers in each Region will be invited to the 5th Annual NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Fall Nationals at the end of the 2010 season, and compete in the Race of Regions.

The top ten drivers in the New Senoia Raceway NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division, excluding those drivers that place in the top ten of the Regional points, will also be invited to compete in the Fall Nationals race. The 2010 New Senoia Raceway NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Late Model Champion will also compete in the Race of Champions at the Fall Nationals.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models are powered by the economical GM Performance 604 and 602 engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. The engines can be purchased at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA with free next day delivery in the Southeastern United States.

The 400-horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine costs right at $5,300 and the 350-horsepower 602 engine costs right at $3,300, and get a 150-pound weight break. The race cars will also be shod with economical Hoosier Race Tires. For more information about the purchase of GM Performance 604 and 602 engines, contact NeSmith Chevrolet at 877-497-3624, or visit their web site at www.nesmithnow.com.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series gives its tracks and competitors maintenance, technical, and public relations support. Should the GM Performance engines need to be repaired, the work can be done through the series’ network of authorized rebuilders. They can break the factory seals, repair the engines, and reseal them. The series keeps a database of repairs to insure the legality of the engines, in that stay within the specifications and tolerances set by the factory.
