CAMARGO, IL (Jan. 17, 2007) - The 2006 season is now officially in the history books with the 2006 Awards Ceremony recently held in grand fashion at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Ballroom. Now all eyes are focused on the 2007 campaign that kicks off on February 6th at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville , FL. The week of events in sunny Florida has been an All Star tradition since 1983. With the return of many NST drivers to the World of Outlaws, 2007 is shaping up to be one of the biggest weeks in “WinterNationals” history as several of those teams will also compete with the All Stars for the three nights prior to the start of their season at the same facility. The winners of the first two events will each pocket $5,000 and on night #3 the All Stars will pay $7,000 to the victor.
In addition to the hype surrounding the re-unification of winged 410 sprint car racing, the All Stars will debut their new logo, new pace truck graphics, new merchandise, new drivers, and new attitude as O’Reilly Auto Parts joins the series as its title sponsor for the next 5 years. Greg Wilson is prepared to defend his 2006 All Star title and a whole host of All Star contenders will be chasing him down for the 2007 O’Reilly All Star Championship.

The 36th Annual DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Mopar Speedshop at Volusia Speedway Park runs from Tuesday February 6th through Sunday February 11th. The O’Reilly All Star series will sanction the first 3 events prior to the World of Outlaws taking over for the final 3 nights. With the entry list growing by the day, one of the strongest fields ever is expected for the week of events. This annual flurry of early season activity typically attracts many other racers from around the USA and this year will be no different. Teams from Florida , Pennsylvania , Ohio , Indiana , Missouri , Illinois , and Iowa who are not members of either sanctioning body will also be in attendance to compete for an All Star victory.

Last year a very large and enthusiastic crowd braved the unusually cold temperatures at the half-mile to see Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz, and Terry McCarl pick up All Star wins. This year Greg Wilson, Danny Smith, Brandon Martin, Brian Ellenberger, Dale Blaney, Paul May, Barry Ruble, and Tiffany Wyzard will be seeking revenge and will be chasing down the Outlaws to bring them to justice. Brock Mayes will still be competing in Australia and will miss the Florida races. More All Star Rookie of the Year contenders will be announced in the next few weeks.

In addition to the large number of sprint cars expected, the UMP Modifieds will be in action throughout the week. The pits will be full and the fans are guaranteed to get their money’s worth. Special reserved-seat ‘Super Tickets’ are now available for the “DIRTcar Nationals” at a cost of $160 (covering all six nights of Sprint Car racing). A free gift is included with the purchase of ‘Super Tickets,’ which fans can learn more about by calling the VSP office at 386-985-4402 or visiting www.volusiaspeedwaypark.com.

The Volusia Speedway Park pit area and campground will open for racer and fan parking on Mon., Feb. 5. Reserved Motor Home parking (Up to 40 feet) only $20/night and general camping (Less than 20 feet) is $15/night. Contact the Speedway office for reservations.

Reminder: Drivers/teams need to have their membership forms and payment turned in by Feb. 1st to be eligible for pit pass discounts at Volusia Speedway Park on Feb. 6th – 9th.
