O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass Dirt Car Series Super Late Model Division Readies for Upcoming 2008

Louisville, Kentucky- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model Division is set for the upcoming 2008 racing campaign as the 800 horsepower full-fendered dirt warriors will be feature in 2008 with 22 events at 10 different racing facilities in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee.

The season will begin in the Hoosier State of Indiana on Saturday April 12 with a stop at Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, IN for a $3,000 to win contest. Action stays in Indiana the following weekend when Twin Cities will again host action on Friday April 18, followed by the 25th Annual Hoosier Dirt Classic at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on Saturday April 19. Both of those events will pay $3,000 to win. The month of April will conclude with the first event in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky as the 11th Annual Spring Sizzler will take place at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY, paying $3,000 to win.

The month of May gets underway with a bang as a doubleheader of Super Late Model action gets the green flag in Central Kentucky as Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY will host the 9th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial event on Friday May 2, followed up by a stop up the road at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY the next evening on Saturday night May 3, with both races paying $3,000 to the first place finisher. The final night of action in the month of May will take place on Saturday May 24 at the ultra-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN, with $5,000 to the winner up for grabs in the series only scheduled visit to the Volunteer state in 2008.

With around one-third of the scheduled events finished at this point, the month of June begins with racing action in Eastern Kentucky as the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division visits 201 Speedway for a $3,000 to win event on Saturday June 7. Bluegrass Speedway will host its second tour event of the ’08 campaign on Saturday June 14 with the $3,000 to win 7th Annual June Jam. Clinton County Speedway in Albany, KY returns to the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division schedule for the first time since 2004 with a $3,000 to win event on Saturday June 21. The month of June closes out with the second stop of the season at Brownstown Speedway for the 10th Annual Lee Fleetwood Memorial, with $3,000 going to the winner of that event.

With America celebrating its 232nd birthday in July, the tour will celebrate as well with a visit to Mountain Motor Speedway in Isom, KY for the first time since 2005 on Friday July 4, paying $3,000 to win, followed by the second stop of the season at 201 Speedway on Saturday July 5, paying $5,000 to the winner. The following weekend will see action migrate back to Central Kentucky with a visit on Friday June 11 to Ponderosa Speedway for the $3,000 to win 13th Annual Pete Abell Memorial event, followed up by the 10th Annual Kentuckiana Klash on Saturday July 12 at Bluegrass Speedway, with the winner walking away with $5,000. Richmond Raceway will host its second and final stop on the tour for 2008 on Saturday July 19, presenting the 21st Annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event, with yet another $5,000 payday awaiting the winner. The month of July will close out with the tour’s only visit to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for 2008, paying $3,000 to win.

The month of August begins in historic proportions as the O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division and the Independent Racing Series will co-sanction a pair of events for the very first time together, as the Kentucky and Ohio based regional tours will co-sanction a visit to Ponderosa Speedway on Friday August 1 for the 6th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial event, followed by the 6th Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout at Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday August 2, with both events that weekend paying $5,000 to win. The third and final visit to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN will take place on Saturday evening August 16 for the $4,000 to win 4th Annual Hall of Fame Classic. August ends with the Labor Day holiday weekend the final visit of the season to 201 Speedway on Saturday August 31, paying $3,000 to the winner.

The month of September only holds one scheduled event and it will be the 2008 O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division season finale and will take place at Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday evening September 20. The event will be the 9th Annual Bluegrass 50 and will pay $5,000 to the event winner.
