O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Roars to Life at Bluegrass Speedway April 25

Louisville, Kentucky-April 7, 2009- The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model Division will roar into action and begin its eighth season of competition as the 800 horsepower full-fendered dirt warriors will flex their muscles at 18 events at seven different racing facilities in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.

America’s most competitive regional Dirt Late Model tour begins the 2009 season with its 151st series event at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY on Saturday April 25 for the 12th Annual Spring Sizzler, paying $3,000 to the winner.

The month of May gets underway with a bang as a doubleheader of Super Late Model action gets the green flag in Central Kentucky as Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY will host the 10th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial event on Friday May 1, followed up by a stop up the road at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY the next evening on Saturday night May 2, with both races paying $3,000 to the first place finisher. The final night of action in the month of May will take place on Saturday evening May 23 at the ultra-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN, with $4,000 up for grabs to the winner of the event.

The O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Super Late Model division begins the month of June with a visit in Eastern Kentucky to 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY for a $3,000 to win event on Saturday evening June 6. Another Central Kentucky double-dip takes place the next weekend as the tour’s second stop at Ponderosa Speedway has the 14th Annual Pete Abell Memorial on Friday June 12, paying $3,000 to win, followed by Bluegrass Speedway and its second tour event of the ’09 campaign on Saturday June 14 with the 8th Annual June Jam, paying $3,000 to win. Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY returns to the schedule for the first time since May of 2007 with a $3,000 to win event scheduled for Saturday evening June 20, rounding out the month of June.

With America celebrating its 233rd birthday on July 4, the tour reaches its halfway point with a return trip to 201 Speedway on Saturday July 4, paying $5,000 to win that evening. The following weekend will see Bluegrass Speedway host its third event of the year with the running of the 11th Annual Kentuckiana Klash race on Saturday July 11, with $5,000 going to the winner. One of the most prestigious regional Super Late Model events takes place the following weekend on Saturday July 18 as Richmond Raceway has its second and final event of the year with the presentation of the 22nd Annual Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial race, paying $5,000 to the winner. The month continues on Saturday evening July 25 with the tour’s third ever visit and only Ohio venue in 2009 at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, paying $3,000 to win. On Friday July 31, the month of July concludes with the 7th Annual John Bradshaw Memorial event with the tour’s third visit to Ponderosa Speedway in 2009, paying $5,000 to win and the evening’s action will be shared with the Battle of the Bluegrass Modified Series and will be taped by the television cameras of the Outdoor Channel.

The month of August begins in a big way as the television cameras of the Outdoor Channel will visit Bluegrass Speedway for its fourth and final series event of ’09 on Saturday August 1, paying $5,000 to win in the 11th Annual Bluegrass 50. After a week off, the tour visits Lake Cumberland Speedway for the final time in 2009 with a Saturday evening August 15 event that will pay $3,000 to win. The final race in August will be the tour’s final visit to Ponderosa Speedway in ’09 with the inaugural running of the Pepsi-Cola 40 on Friday August 21, paying $4,000 to win.

The month of September will conclude the 2009 series campaign as a Labor Day holiday weekend doubleheader concludes the tour with a Saturday September 5 visit to 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY for $3,000 to win, followed by the series finale on Sunday evening September 6 with a return trip to the super-fast Tazewell Speedway, with the winner walking away with $5,000.
