CAMARGO, IL (4-21-07) Since the early days of the sport, sprint car racing at its highest level has sunken its roots in the Midwestern states of Illinois, Indiana and Missouri. From the glory days of IMCA’s fair circuit to the birth of winged racing, the area has witnessed the spectacular exploits of the sport’s greatest stars driving its greatest cars and has been home to many of racing’s most endearing characters.

In 2007, big-time sprint car racing is reinvigorated in the area with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Midwest All Star Series. The winged 410’s will be a featured attraction with twenty events at thirteen tracks in the three-state region. The intent is to grow 410 winged sprint car racing in the region by providing excitement, organization and a good purse structure.

Guy Webb, President of the O’Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions and the O’Reilly Midwest All Stars, strongly believes in the future of 410 winged sprint car racing locally and nationwide and is investing time, effort and money to insure its success. “We’ve seen a reduction in the number of 410 events over the last several years due to track closures, ownership changes and other factors and I think that’s truly unfortunate. As a fan, I want to see the highest level of competition possible and I believe the Midwest All Star Series will provide a sanctioning body that will promote the great caliber of racers in the area, put on a racing program that rewards RACING all night long and strives to grow the fan base and sponsorship involvement. I really think the quality of racing in this area is the best kept secret in the sport”.

Sprint car racing has a rich history in the area with nationally known drivers like Chuck Amati, Bubby Jones, Cliff Cockrum, Jim Moughan Sr.
and Jerry Blundy; Bob Kinser, Dick Gaines, Larry Gates, Butch Wilkerson and Charlie Swartz. The region provided the first stars of winged racing in the 60’s and is widely accepted as the cradle of what became the World of Outlaws. The Midwest All Star Series will build on that history with its new contingent of stars like Jim and Joey Moughan, Tim and Joey Montgomery, Jerrod Hull, Terry Babb, Robbie and Jeremy Standridge, Kelly Kinser and many others.

The 2007 season, featuring great wheel-to-wheel excitement of the most extreme form of racing in America…410 winged sprint car racing All Star style…begins Friday, May 25th at Auto Tire and Parts Race Park in Benton, MO., followed by a May 26th date at Lincoln (IL) Speedway.
