Beebe, Arkansas (4/01/09) - The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series is set to kick off their 2009 campaign this weekend with two big events in the state of Arkansas.

After a highly successful 2008 season, the O’Reilly MSRA is set for its most lucrative campaign to date. The three year old series currently has over 25 races slated for the 2009 campaign, with the possibility of more events to be added in the very near future.

Once again an extremely talented field of drivers is throwing their hat into the ring to contend for the 2009 title. Two-time defending O’Reilly MSRA Champion, Joey Mack from Benton, Missouri, will no doubt be a marked man for the 2009 season, as his fellow competitors look to dethrone the only champion that the series has ever had.

Jeff Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, has finished second in the final standings two years in a row to Mack, and is arguably the driver, who would most like to win the title. The 2009 season will mark Floyd’s 25th year of racing.

Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas is coming off a 2008 season, which saw his program improve by leaps and bounds as he became a threat to win each and every night. He finished third in the 2008 points and was also crowned the 2008 O’Reilly MSRA Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year. He will no doubt be a threat on the tour in 2009.

Despite not attending a pair of early season events, Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas finished 4th in the 2008 point standings, and along the way won four feature events, which was more than any other driver on the tour. For his efforts, Kyle was crowned the COMP Cams Top Performer for 2008. Beard is tentatively eyeing a run at the 2009 O’Reilly MSRA title.

Billy Moyer Jr. from Batesville, Arkansas was another driver, who did not attend a pair of the early season events in 2008, but managed to rebound to a solid 5th place finish in the final point standings. Moyer Jr. overcame early season difficulties to end the 2008 season on a high note, and is looking to carry his momentum into this weekend’s events.

The top five point’s finishers from 2008 will be joined by a full compliment of top contenders for 2009 including Dewaine Hottinger (Arkansas), Jon Mitchell (Arkansas), Jeff Sloan (Missouri), and Randy Mitchell (Oklahoma),
The 2009 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year competition is shaping up to be a major barn-burner, as two of the top young guns from the Southeast have already thrown their names into the ring. Gary Scott Christian from Broken Bow, Oklahoma has indicated his intent to compete for the honor as well as Austin Rettig from Sikeston, Missouri. A handful of other drivers, have also indicated the possibility of competing for the honor, depending on their performances in the early season events.

A stout field of non-series regulars have indicated their intent to possibly compete in one or both of the events over the course of the opening weekend including Jack Sullivan, Ray Moore, Kevin Sitton, Wendell Wallace, Bill Frye, and many more.

The tour will open its 2009 campaign in fine style this weekend with an Arkansas double-dip.
